The second part of the challenge meant that if your rooks had moved back to their original position, they would also become frozen due to the piece next to them being frozen as well.
@RottenBen8 ай бұрын
Ah yes, so remove the ability to not only not use 5/8 pieces, but make it so all pieces are unable to move. Simp made the right call since that rule was just impossible with that second part.

@@RottenBen It wouldn't have applied either way in this case since neither of the rooks went next to a frozen piece.

@@RottenBen You're not reading that right. In fact, Simp completed the challenge as written. Because none of his rooks ever landed near the frozen pieces.

one issue with the reveal challenges is that Simp has to understand the rules of the challenge while on the clock.

Chess, but you predict the future. Choose two turn numbers. The earlier turn is when you take your first capture. The second turn is when you take your last capture. If either prediction is wrong, the video ends.

Very well done for this challenge. Good to see the classic
@sorin_markov9 ай бұрын
The challenge just said "pieces" so you could've chosen your opponent's pieces. That would have been impossible tho
@dom84298 ай бұрын
but then he would lose the challenge once the opponents piece moves. however he would have more pieces to work with himself for taking that risk
@cathsaigh21978 ай бұрын
I assumed it would be either that you can't move the pieces, or can move only them so I'd have hedged by having the queen be in the smaller group. Not being able to move the chosen pieces is the more likely option because not being able to move just two pieces wouldn't be much of a challenge.

Ah, the famous Magnus Carlsen "the plough" opening (almost ; )
@-ism81538 ай бұрын
By the line of the rules that he chose to ignore, moving the king to take the bishop would have frozen it (by moving it adjacent to a frozen piece), so it was actually a good move not to take it. He ended up abiding by those rules anyway.

If I was given this challenge, I would have picked one of each piece and maybe an extra bishop so I can use my Queen. That way, no matter what the challenge is, I would have a good amount of material to work with. I would then proceed to lose the game horribly because I'm 800 rated.
@ventusse8 ай бұрын
The issue is we don't know if it would be frozen or only those you chose would be the only ones able to move
@Zulk_RS8 ай бұрын
@@ventusse Yeah but it doesn't really matter. Pieces I picked: 2 Bishops, 1 Rook, 1 Knight, 1 King. If picked pieces are paralyzed: I have 1 Knight, 1 Rook and 1 Queen If non-picked pieces are paralyzed: I have 1 Knight, 1 Rook, 2 Bishops, 1 King Either way, I'd have a good amount of material to work with. Though again, I'd still lose because I'm 800 and not very good at chess.
