Same thing in most western countries. Take short term measures for disasters at the cost of long term risks. Banks, for one, should never be privatized, not even partially. Private businesses (including banks) operate only for profit, not for charity or well being of citizens. They'll take any risk for a quick buck, regardless of societal risks.

Mwahahahah. no. thats just a very corrupt socialist government, but the portuguese have a weird culture of not votting (only 40% or less than the population votes on the major elections, in other lesser elections abstention rates can go as far as 70-75%) this means that the left wing and socialist parties parties can form a government with the support of only 20% of the population. this means bad governemnt after bad governemnt. they can do this by do favours to the public employes, that vote socialist (those 20%). meanwille the politicians can get involved in any kind of corruption scandel, their party can still won a majority and form a goverment.this happened las elections. this party drived portugal 3 times to bankruptcy in recent history, but still won with a majority, in an election with an abstention rate of 66%. and after the 2008 crises, an rigth wing goverment get the power and austerity that put the country back on its feet again, but in the next elections the socialists promised that they would end austerity and won the government again. and portugal goes bankrupt once again after the covid. the year started three months ago and we already have 3 new corruption scandals. on the other hand, the first minister Socrates, accused of bringing the country to bankruptcy (say for personal benefit) in 2014, has not yet been tried for his crimes. this is portugal, in practice a socialist dictatorship. to exemplify, a new party (which I don't happen to support) has emerged, which is called enough. its leader calls attention to corruption and has gained a lot of support. it's funny to see the effort put in by our state-controlled televisions to denigrate his image, accusing him of being racist and supporting hitler (which he never did), while other leaders publicly support stalin and cry on the anniversary of his death . our television stations are highly controlled by the state, for example, the prime minister's brother is the information director of SIC, the most important television station in the country. the minister of justice set up a web around the portuguese judicial system, assigning friends to the highest posts of justice. she publicly stated the following: "it is normal to help those closest to us", THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE SAID THIS! the most recent case was when she sent a friend of the regime to an institution of the european union (i do not remember the name) instead of the most qualified person that the union suggested, and why? because this most qualified person was unbreakable. they did the same to our attorney general of the republic, the only woman who was able to put a politician in jail. she had impeccable doctrine, and all the politicians who were arrested, were under her purview. as such, the government "threatened" the president of the republic with an old case that he covered up so that he would dismiss the prosecutor. my friends, this is portugal.

1) abolish central banking and 2) abolish fiat currency and replace it with sound money (gold or possibly crypto) do this and you will not have artificially low interest rate or artificially high inflation rates. the end result is stability and the slow but steady growth of prosperity over the long time the system which exists today is typical of western democracies where they always think of the short term over the long term. as such things always get worse over time

Fiat currency is unstable, and if you're trying to measure the value of a commodity in unstable dollars then the number will fluctuate due to the instability of the dollar. The empirical evidence for gold as a currency is strong, for example when the US dollars value was backed by a gold standard the currency was very stable, inflation was very low and economic growth was moving upwards in a gradual but certain line, as opposed to being plauged by booms and busts

The words have similar origins. The virus is named after the shape of some protein spikes on the surface that kind of looks like a crown from what I understand. And the currency in Iceland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden is also named after the crown.

@Michael I'd say they're generally more neoliberal/libertarian than centrist. Also you'll find a lot of their videos have people from those places in the comments below pointing out errors or missing information. And their 'entertainment value' also does hurt their educational value, as they typically overstate their point while neglecting to provide much context or other possible explanations. Caspian Report is also not an academic channel, yet still manages to value restraint and accuracy.

you've got it backwards. Banks are not actually private. They are extremely privelaged from the government in some ways and in other ways regulated extremely The end result is the economic ruin we see. The biggest issue is that central banking (that's the state, that's not private) allows the state to inflate the money supply artificially which results in inflation Combine that with bailouts and manipulation of interest rates and you always get disaster Actually recessions are not even "bad". What they are is the market rebalancing and recalibrating itself after all the government interference. Its an inevitable consequence
