Oh honestly Kayla, you have read my mind. I'm 70 years old, being consistent in my 16/8 intermittent fasting regimen and not overeating or eating the wrong kinds of things yet have reached just such a plateau as you just mentioned. Still, I'm 177 pounds and I feel that that is a bit too much .. or IS it? Is it just temporary or is it the weight I'm SUPPOSED to be at for my age? I'm working on accepting what IS in life and maybe this is one of those things I will need to accept. Thank you so much for your good advice to people. You really ARE an inspiration. 🌹

I am a male (56 YO) 5’9’’ and have gone down from 177 to 167 lbs. I have gotten stuck in 167; I am eating too much in my OMAD and my window has gotten wider. I give myself 2 weeks to bring 3 consecutive days without 167 nor 166. After that another 2 weeks to bring about 3 consecutive days without 165 nor 164. It is like focusing on my weekly average but with a more specific goal. I’m an Economist but I also ride competitive dressage and loosing weight is essential to riding at my top. You’re very inspiring, thank you.

I have high blood pressure. I had a 180 reading and decided to try to eat only foods on the lower high blood pressure list. Fish,kiwi, oranges, bananas, watermelon, berries, bell peppers, skim milk, yogurt, pastashios, walnuts, seeds and weeds pomagrante juice. After 3 days down 3 lbs and blood pressure 139 -75.

Folks your body is smart, it has been use to surviving on sugar. When you decide to remove a substantial amount after a while your body will out of desperation shut down weight loss and run to find sugar to burn. When if finally realizes it isn't going to find it, it goes to eating fat to maintain and your back on tract to losing weight.

In addition to your advice, I would say get your fasting insulin levels checked. Megan Ramos - partner of Dr. Jason Fung - said in a video on Siimland's You Tube channel that OMAD and keto may not be enough to bring your insulin levels low enough to keep losing weight. It may take fasting 36-42 hours 2-3X/week with 16:8 or 18:6 the other days over the course of as long as 6 months to a year to bring down your insulin levels. Some people are seriously insulin resistant.

I just made that point! Exactly, fasting has to be longer than 36 hours if you want to call it fasting. The rest if fooling yourself.

I eat a Whole Foods plant based diet. Meaning, foods that are at their most natural state. Very little to no processed foods. I fast 18 hours a day, break my fast with a plant based protein bar when a work, then I eat a nice dinner. I’ve been doing this for a few months and no luck losing weight. Someone told me that maybe I’m not eating enough calories and my body needs more. I eat until I’m comfortably full then stop until the next day when I break my fast. Has this happened to you? And do u have any advice to how to get that scale to move? Thank you!
@mybestideas1
@mybestideas1 5 жыл бұрын
You are not in keto. Stay away from protein bars, or any processed food. You should narrow that feeding window to 1 hour if you can (do it gradually) then eat a meal rich in fat for a few days and that will put you in keto - so your body will start to burn fat. Then you have to 'lay off' the fatty foods - eg. avocado, bacon, butter, coconut oil. It will be harder for you if you are a vegetarian. You can continue with that food plan but only after you are in keto. Another way of getting into keto zone is not eating at all for 3-5 days (your urine and armpits will start to smell funny so you'll know). Good luck.

@@mybestideas1 yes, u r right. Theres a difference b/e whats labelled plants and actually what plants they have in it. The idea is to keep the insulin from spiking. Plz see, u dont eat any high GI foods and do have fats in your diet, keeping calorie intake within a specified range. Or maybe u r not losing weight because you are stressing about it. And get your cortisol high. When cortisol is raised consistently, it leads to weight gain. And, Please pay attention to what people have to say, did your skin get better or did measurements change... sometimes fat gets replaced with muscle mass, scale doesnt move, but tape does.

Help Kayla!!! I love your videos and they inspire me, but I'm frustrated and wanting to rebel by giving up on IF. I've been fluctuating between 16/8 and 18/6 for 2 months plus I walk 6-7 miles a day. I only eat to fullness but I do eat carbs and some sweets. In 8 weeks I lost 6 lbs. Last Saturday I got invited to a picnic and ate all the foods there (it was during my eating window). Sunday morning I gained 2 pounds! Next morning I was up another 0.4 pounds. I can't weigh myself daily because it's crazy-making for me. I've lost 40-60 lbs. numerous times in my life but always went back to old habits and gained it all back. I absolutely can't do keto or low carb. In 2017 I lost 43 pounds in 6 months on WW by tracking and counting points; a year later I got tired of tracking and gained 23 back. I'm 5'5", and currently weigh 174 size 12. I will be 68 in October. My goal is to get to 150-155 which was the last weight I'd achieved in 2017 and felt my best at. Lately, it's been such a struggle I feel like I can't get there again.

@mybestideas1

@@sandramcgowan6582 You are fooling yourself with that 'diet'. Yes, the 2 days you are doing the great things and your body gets all the goodies - growth hormone and stem cells but the key is to ask what are you doing the rest of the days. The feeding window is not an invite do pig out, so if she did it during the picnic you can only imagine how 5 days would look like. @Mary Smith it tells me you have unhealthy relationship with food, and your yo-yo dieting proves it. No matter which diet you pick, eventually you will lose weight but in your case, you will regain it back, making this pattern more dangerous to you. I suggest to you to find healthy recipes - something that you will enjoy eating. Stay away from processed food, root vegetables and most fruits except berries. Increase healthy fats - eg. avocado and butter. Meat maybe only twice per week (protein also can make you fat and it also can give you cancer). And fast longer - 23 hours minimum. Trust me, you will not be hungry. And meditate and love yourself with the new recipes that you will love for many years to come with your new dietary habits. Wish you luck!

U have to be in harmony with your body first. Accept it and work happily to make it healthier. " Body has to be healthy to be able to lose weight." By all that diets, maybe you have put your body in a state where it tends to hold on to the fat.... Because previously, it had been taken away brutally from it... Or maybe your measurements have changed, as it happened with me, keeping weight same.so, ostop tracking your weight every other day.

Good morning Kayla! I recently discovered your content and can't get enough - you're extremely relatable and have such a kind face. Now that you're no longer in a traditional house, I assume you do all your walking outside? What do you do if it's raining? I'm going to start tracking my movement, but live on the Canadian border, where the winters are LONG. Thank you!

Just relax. The forced exercise is not beneficial. The comments below with jumping rope etc are complete nonsense. You are not supposed to stress body in IF because your adrenal gland will kick in and then you won't be able to lose weight at all. Take it easy during the rainy days. BTW I live in Canada and neither rain, nor snow (in -19C) stopped me of taking my walks. Get a dog LOL you'll see how quickly your daily routine will become in sync with the nature.

I have a question, please. I have been doing IF for seven weeks. I lost 7 pounds the first few weeks. (3-4 weeks). I have gone up and down 2-3 pounds since then. (Losing and gaining same 3 pounds) Do you know why that might be? I have about 20-25 more pounds to lose. Thanks for expertise! :)

Anything under 16/8 should not be called fasting. You guys are fooling yourselves! Even at 16/8 you get next to no benefits and have lots of time to pig out LOL Fasting should not be for weight loss. Yes, this is a byproduct but it should be to get healthy, and you are getting healthy on fasting in 24-48 mark. You need to 'tweak your plan' to eat every 2 days one meal. Also, coffee, tea, soup ... breaks the fast! Pills break the fast. Your body is starting to react and you are not in a fasting mode anymore.

I would love to see the scientific evidence for your claims that anything less than 2 days is not fasting. It is my understanding that Dr. Fung disagrees with that assessment. He has helped so many people in a clinical setting - meaning that his patients not only get good results with that 16/8 protocol, they get repeatable results. Of course, bioindividuality is a factor. But frankly, unless you have comparable credentials to Dr. Fung, then your commentary doesn't really carry as much weight. I can't speak for anyone else, but your derisive tone isn't exactly persuasive for me. Why not be kind while expressing a different point of view? Or at least not insulting......
