I gave gift cards for like $50 for restaurants, gas, etc....something of a treat they might not usually get. Every time they used it, they felt honored

I Fell in love with dave ramsey after a qoute on his show where he said you should treat it, as an employee, as if it was your business; To a question about taking small sidejobs outside their job description. Now i can learn what real business problems looks like.

We are blessed to have dave as a mentor with solid advice. I can't relate to many callers on the show but i hope that one day I'll have my own business maybe, maybe not but who knows

The big problem with including a bonus/profit sharing as part of the base comp is what happens if financials change so the bonus is no longer paid out or drastically reduces? Had this happen at a job where some departments had done this and all of a sudden their people were well below market. As I understand it, my department hadn't done that so it didn't affect us as much.

Dave doesn't get it. Pizza parties and movies? Absurd. Pizza doesn't pay bills. Pizza doesn't raise families. Pizza doesn't help you retire. All employees want is money. That's it. Everything else is dumb.

Well Pizza is cheap raises are expensive and in perpetuity if I gave my employees a raise instead of a pizza they'd be lucky if the raise was 1 cent because over the course of a year even a one penny raise costs substantially more than a pizza. Dave definitely gets it, my employees love pizza and drinks. That's why he emphasized the fact that it was a cheap way to reward the team. I'm not giving out pay raises instead of pizza, there just won't be any raise and no pizza and you can buy your own lunch.

@djg4653 1 cent is 20 dollars per year for a raise. If you can't afford that for an employee, maybe you should rethink your business.

I love the little extras. My wife asked her people what is most important to them, and the #1 answer was flexibility. #2 was the great leadership. #3 was salary.

Cash bonuses go unappreciated and then become expected. It’s not the way to go
