@grey5626
@grey5626 3 жыл бұрын
I would imagine that the curse might have more to do with river spirits not wanting to be polluted than any intrinsic power of Colonel Sanders. ;) There might be some ハク「haku」/饒速水琥珀主 「nigihayami kohaku nushi」from 千と千尋の神隠し (aka Spirited Away) equivalent river dragon spirit who needs medicine of being cleaned out more thoroughly first? Probably a way to test that scientifically would be to find the left hand and eye glasses and remove them from the river, but not rejoin them with the Colonel Sanders statue. If the curse is broken and the Hanshin Tigers win again, then we know that it was the river pollution. ;)

jeenxd -- If you watch the old anime feature film, Project A-ko (1986), there's a scene where the main characters are watching a stalker film. The character in the movie they're watching gets freaked. It turns out he's been stalked the whole time by the Colonel! Yes, Colonel Sanders of KFC fame! From what I understand, the Colonel pops up in a lot of places in Japanese pop culture. *** *** Ah, don't tell the Japanese that in the US KFC is NOT considered a good fast food brand. If anything, the most popular chicken place in the US right now is Chik Fil A. Where I live, Cane's (another chicken place) is also very popular. It's very hard to get food from Chik Fil A or Cane's locally because the drive thru's are always packed. They've gotten VERY popular through the pandemic. KFC has really deteriorated in the US and is probably the last place I'd buy any chicken from. They don't cook it well. Heck, I think Popeyes is at least ten times better than KFC! Some franchises are better overseas than they are in North America. It's possible they're doing things better with KFC in Southeast Asia and Japan than they are in North America. In the US, KFC is definitely not good! McDonald's has also seen much better days in the US than what it is now. I will go to a LOT of places before I'd eat at McDonald's!

@AvengerII
@AvengerII 2 жыл бұрын
Kentucky Fried Chicken has been called "KFC" in the United States for at least 20+ years now. They rebranded to reduce the association with "fried" since people associate that with unhealthy eating. People still eat fried food anyway! The real reason "KFC" has declined in the States is because the quality of the food at KFC in the US (at least) has gone down. New competition from other chicken food chains like Chik Fil A and Cane's has really destroyed the stranglehold KFC has on fast food chicken. Frankly, I think the other fast food chicken places sell better-tasting product and KFC doesn't seem to be trying to make its reputation better in the US. I see packed drive thrus at both Chik Fil A and Cane's but KFC always has light traffic. CFA and Cane's became much more popular during the pandemic and you have to wait a while if you decide to buy food at one of their locations. People enjoy some of the wacky commercials from the US branch of KFC better than the food but the commercials are not helping food sales at KFC at all!

@@MrsEats I’m so glad I’m subscribed to your channel! I just learned so much about my grandpa, to answer the question of if the base is still there is a strong yes! In fact it’s the JSDF’s primary base in Hokkaido in the city of Chitose and monitors the maritime borders between Japan and Russia, which thus explains why my grandpa was stationed there since my grandpa was in the ASA or army security agency and being it was during the Cold War my grandpa gathered intelligence from the Soviet Union, also another fun thing I learned is back in 94 an OVA titled 801 T.T.S. Airbats took place at Chitose Air base, I’m so happy I know more about my grandpa now! He passed away when I was 14 and thus I didn’t really get to know him, but now after his passing I’m glad I’m still learning more about him I just wish he was still here so he could tell me all his many stories(that aren’t classified of course haha) also thank you for the recommendation when I visit Chitose someday I’ll make sure to go to Otaru and see and taste all that I can! Love the cultural comparison videos! I am still surprised and a bit confused about a KFC Christmas but it's definitely one of the best things about Japan for me. Whenever I tell people from Japan that I meet that I am from Kentucky, this is always what they ask first. KFC may not be my favorite food (especially with all the local places here for fried chicken) but it's still a taste of home! Until I saw the commercials someone sent me I never understood the term 'Kentucky Christmas' (I was very confused as to why KFC came off as a Christmas tradition here at first) but I TOTALLY get it now. Side note: FAKKIN is also just a beautiful combination of words.
