Journalists who have been forced to flee their countries convey their own personal stories of how they got out and got settled in a new location in this World Press Freedom Day (May 3) 2023 National Press Club panel discussion. They share what circumstances lead them to leave and what the current climate is for journalists in their home country, highlighting the process they underwent when trying to cover what's happening in their countries.
Panelists include:
- Mohammad Mosaed, a journalist from Iran now working in IT at the National Press Club
- Zaki Daryabi, Publisher of Etilaatroz, an independent Afghan news organization
- Diing Magot, a freelance journalist who formerly worked for Voice of America in Sudan
- Tamerat Negera, a journalist and founder of the Terara Network, an Ethiopian media company
