It's cold outside. Frost drifts along the edges of the window. I'm sitting in my room on the windowsill, leaning into a cushion, a cosy blanket spread over me and watching the snowflakes dancing outside the window. The sun has already disappeared behind the horizon, only a few lamps light up the courtyard. I hear the door to my room open softly, but I don't take my eyes off the window. Because I know for sure that it's you. You sit down opposite me on the windowsill and take a look out too. "Will you tell me what you're doing?" you ask and goose bumps form on my body as your warmth hits my bare arms. "I'm watching the snowflakes," I reply and you laugh softly. "And what do the snowflakes do?" "They dance. They dance like we did once, a long time ago. Do you remember that? It was the first ball we both attended, we had never met before. When our eyes met, we knew we belonged together. Like snowflakes. They only exist together, one cannot survive alone. We danced all night. We were happy. We loved each other. And then, in the blink of an eye, you were gone. I'm waiting for the day when we can be together again. And then it will be forever." My eyes move from the snowflakes to you. For a brief moment I catch a glimpse of your grey eyes, the smile playing around the corners of your mouth, before you fade away, leaving nothing but darkness and the dancing snowflakes behind.
