With size, strength, a thick exoskeleton & being covered in spines, the only other bugs I know of that could successfully face down a spiney leaf insect are a hornet, or else a large spider such as the brazilian wandering spider or a tarantula. And only because these have the size & venom necessary to do the job With the size & strength advantages of that spiney leaf insect, the giant mantis is one of very few bugs qualified to take it down. There's no way I could've anticipated who would win this fight. It's the bug world equivalent of Tyrannosaurus Rex versus Stegosaurus; vicious strength & teeth against weight, power, & armour

I wanna see more of that hooded mantis. I hate how he lost...I hate how the swift tree mantis lost as well. He reminds me if a bug was a character from assassins creed. It was so satisfying to see the lichen bark mantis devour that spider tho

Exactly. They're not expensive at all in comparison with most other pets, even bugs. The reason they can cost much at all is cuz they're tricky to breed, since they're cannibalistic.

I was confused and concerned about the mantis turning it's back. But I was also surprised the spider pulled back. It had the better advantage if it struck first from the side. But then the mantis gave its back.

Damn it. Somebody please stomp on that wandering spider. I‘m so sorry for this beautiful hooded mantis. I once had a Twig Mantis. Damn it, she was so beautiful. Why do mantises amaze me so much? Although I feel sorry for that Spiny Leaf Insect. It hasn‘t got venom, fangs or a stinger. It had no chance!
