Idk if wrex still tries to kill you or whatever happens to the krogans if you sabotage the cure (I haven't so I only know it backfires bc of wrex so idk how it backfires either) but it is dialogue within the game. And I mean it makes the most sense but usually only if wreav is in charge which I believe is the only time you can talk mordin down bc wrex is more reasonable. This is why I admire Mass Effect as a series: your choices actually matter. There is no schmultzy option where you can go evil and still maintain your entire crew; you literally have to sacrifice them upon the altar of their own morals in order to proceed. No, the paragon choices have also ver wholesome pay offs, like being able to convince the quarians to stop shoting the geth while Legion upload the code, you can only do that if you have enough paragon points, and then just like that you end one of the worst conflicts the galaxy ever saw. Otherwise you would be killing friends or not solving any problem at all. Most folks play the paragon not just because is easy but also because they want to see the best in the worst circunstances. Paragon path is well written and full of epic moments, Shepard does feel like legendary knight in shiny armor doing the the right stuff, being the best of mankind, making the best out of sacrifices other people made for Shepard... Yes, the renegade path is also amazing, but is a hard pill to swallow, most folks don't have the guts to play as renegade, because Shepard becomes a walking and talking dark cloud of tragedy, and not a beacon of hope that the paragon Shepard is.

The one thing that annoys me about this video is that if you go down the true good path, you can actually still save everyone and not have to deal with the solarians, They'll still join you, And the true good path also unlocks the hidden ultimate path that ends with you being able to save everyone and no one has to die except for shepherd.

The game is designed that way, obviously. Under the circumstances I'm not sure the Salarian help would be that great - what exactly did they bring as a fighting force, since they tended to be high tech and small scale in their engagements. Bodies were needed, so Krogans make the most sense. The Salarians would no doubt fall into line after a few years.

I feel like Renegade is literally about doing whatever you feel is necessary and "cowardice" and "courage" are irrelevant. To a renegade Shepard there's no difference between shooting Mordin in the back or the front. Renegade Shep isn't trying to be a hero. Just trying to get shit done. Besides, "shooting someone in the back" is about them being unprepared, unarmed and not expecting it. It's not about whether the bullet literally enters through the back or not. In this instance Mordin isn't surprised. He makes a stand the only way he can - by refusing to give in and hoping that Shepard won't just gun him down. Shepard calls that bluff, but Mordin *is* actively resisting him at the time and I don't see how Shep running a half circle around Mordin to shoot him in the front would make the situation any better. I mean I can't bring myself to play out this scenario but it absolutely makes sense that someone could sacrifice their own morality, dignity and decency to do what they think would save the most lives. Letting yourself be the villain if that's what it takes to save lives is absolutely on brand for a renegade, and ME3 is all about bringing Shepard past their breaking point one way or another.
@F_Mothering
@F_Mothering 8 ай бұрын
The price for Salarian assistance is too damn high if Wrex and Mordin are alive during this arc. Even a Renegade Shepard feels this way after shooting Mordin as they throw their weapon away in anger. Did you notice what pistol you use? The same Canafex Hand Canon Mordin gave you back on Omega. A full game and a half ago. This is heartbreaking. ME3 is the only game in the series that lets you pull the trigger on your own teammates. (Excluding the Wrex confrontation on Virmire) I think on my next playthrough, I'll set things up to have to pull the trigger on my own teammates the most (and have it make sense)

Curing the genophage is the worst thing to do in the long run. Krogan culture is too immature to handle sharing and respecting others rights.
@xxmephxx
@xxmephxx 27 күн бұрын
@@Cheepchipsable proven false in ME3. eve/bakara is an extremely capable, diplomatic, compassionate leader whose goal is to reform krogan society and rebuild so their children have safe futures. wrex is an equally capable leader who values other species' leaders, has proven he's fully capable and willing to work with them to achieve common goals, and is the first person to unify his entire species that we know of. he did that BECAUSE he's willing to change krogan ways of thinking and move away from warfare. his strategy in ME2 is explicitly to unite the krogan against common threats and to make technological and societal progress. in ME3, on sur'kesh, he says that one of the things that'll change as soon as the genophage is cured is the horrific treatment of sterile females, who have historically been sacrificed or chose to sacrifice themselves for the sake of future generations. krogan culture values close relationships (the term "krantt") and the ability to inspire others to work with you and face challenges. turning those values toward global cooperation, resource management, and facing environmental challenges is a fantastic solution.
@xxmephxx
@xxmephxx 27 күн бұрын
@@Cheepchipsable in ME3, when wrex is protrayed as not respecting others' rights, this is easily explainable by the horrible situations he's usually in. on sur'kesh, the dalatrass had to have a gun to her head to admit where the fertile females were kept, and then they don't have clearance to land? of course he assumes the STG are down there shooting all the females to stop the cure, or trying to double cross them, etc. that's completely consistent with salarian behavior, even before it's revealed that they used an ecosystem-maintenance station to spread the genophage. regardless of you personally seeing their culture as immature or primitive, that culture is born out of despair and pain. they were wronged by other species, who now ignore their pain and still see them as mindless, uncontrollable brutes. to sentence them to extinction (ME1 wrex points out that they can't breed quickly enough to keep up with the genophage as well as warfare) is the exact mistake that the game goes OUT OF ITS WAY to show you is wrong and unjustified.

In the paragon playthrough that's pretty much what happens. Not long after the Salarians throw their support in anyways after the attack on the CItadel. Making this "hard choice" rather pointless. Don't get me wrong, I love Mass Effect, but there is definitely a tendency to nudge the players on a certain path despite giving you all the options and the paragon choices very rarely have any real consequence, making a renegade playthrough have little impact. If only in real life were it so simple.
@dabbingtoast7743

@@compmanio36 To be fair, it does make sense in a regard. The Reapers kicking the ass of every race in Council space along with you saving the Salarian councilor twice in addition to the Crucible being the only feasible option to try anything against the Reapers pretty much ensures the Salarians are along for the ride whether they like it or not. Strictly as a going in first time blind plot device though? Excellent moral dilemma that definitely made me think.
