I recall back in the 80's my dad had a friend, ex-military. Dude was a tracker back in Vietnam. He somehow set up sharp spikes all around his house in case anyone tried to break in. Someone was brave enough. The guy had a huge Doberman waiting for him on the inside, trained not to bark & attack until an intruder was inside. That man was about torn to shreds by the dog. Blood everywhere. He was barely alive when he returned. The dog was called off, the police were called and the guy was severely injured. Dog rewarded heavily.

Saved 20lbs. of used kitty litter for a friend to put in a Chewy box. She had a porch pirate that came every time a Chewy box was delivered. For 6 weeks the Chewy boxes got delivered to me. I put the used kitty litter in the Chewy box. I would drop off the Chewy box wearing a FedEx shirt. Bought FedEx box at Goodwill.

FedEx delivered a mattress and left it right by the front door of our building. Needless to say by the time I got home it was gone. So when they delivered the replacement I stalked the Fed Ex truck. Amazon brings our packages right to our apartment door . Its gotten so bad that our landlord told us when we're expecting a package to let him know and he'll put it in our apartment if we aren't home.

FedEx isknown for leaving packages at the end of driveways as well as out in the rain without anything to keep it dry. I happen to know this because some of those packages I get are dropped off by FedEx at either the end of our driveway or at the gate of our fence, usually when it's pouring down rain. One of those times the rain was so bad that one of the packages was left in 4 or 5 inches of water while it was still pouring down rain at around 9 am maybe earlier as it was there when at 9:30 am when I looked out a window. The good thing was that none of it was electronic or could get damaged by water.

@@annbloise4692 I really wish Walmart wouldn't use FedEx for their deliveries. I ordered pots and pans and again they left it at the front door of the building . Luckily I was home and as soon as I got the text saying it was delivered I flew down the stairs !

Ya know, Amazon could prevent half of the theft by simply knocking on the door when leaving a package. When I use Amazon, I make sure the delivery coincides with a time that I'm going to be home. I watch for them to come and the package will barely touch the ground before I have brought it inside.

also they can drop it off at neighbour depending on package. for my area we already agreed i take any package its no trouble. if the package is big they can drop it in my yard. i dont mind ^^ my neighbours are really busy and one is a cop. who appreciates the help.

Privacy. And while it doesn’t apply to public photography, you still have to blur out people who audibly say “I don’t want to be videoed” or whatever. And there are more stringent laws for porch cameras and general property cams especially for the intent of crime watch

In my country these people get beaten to within an inch of their lives and spend the next 6 months eating through a straw. As they sit in their new wheelchair that they have to pay rent for. With images and video plastered all over the area and on sites for all other people to see. Usually resulting in lost jobs and eviction from houses.

Aw, that sounds like my ultimate kind of neighborhood. Wish there were more people like you! The ones next to my right are incredibly nosey. The house across the street there's a husband who is strangely obsessed with me. The house to my left are always filled with college kids. (Not fun.) I've never lived in a neighborhood where it's peaceful and so naturally humble. You are lucky!

It's good to know that we can ring the doorbell and ask for help or an onion and sometimes two eggs! 😅 The gentleman next door has a habit of calling/texting me to ask if I would like rice/noodles whenever he's out for a meal. I leave food at his door and the elderly lady who lives by herself opposite our units, it's a condo, is spoilt rotten by a lot of us as she should be. Some days I'll come home to cat toys and treats at my door! I'm blest. I truly hope things get better for you. There are college/university students renting here but thankfully for us, they are well-behaved and respectful. I do hear the occasional squabbles between spouses but I mind my own business unless someone screams bloody Mary. 😁 Okay. It's lunchtime and I'm hungry.
