The Eyre Highway is a relatively busy road, but adventuring to far off it except for lookouts it gets remote very quickly. Not all trucks are Road Trains; basically Road Trains are the multi trainer units where the trailers have their own front and rear axils, Ive overtaken ones that are 4 trailers long, B/C doubles are multi trailer units that share an articulated axil between trailers, these are very common in the Eastern States, Semi Trailers are single trailer articulated units - most of these can travel at normal road speeds - stay safe out there.

Make sure you check out some of the coastal towns on the Eyre peninsula, more amazing beaches. We think Streaky Bay is the best! You will be able to see Australia Sea lions on the coastal drive just out of town. I would go along the coast from Streaky Bay to Port Lincoln. Don’t go straight across to Port Augusta.

Something to be aware of - you should try to ensure you book Eastertime (essentially, 1-16 April) as places can often book out well in advance. Also, ANZAC Day public holiday is Tues 25 April so many people will take a long weekend of 22-25 April. Plus - check the State school holidays for SA, Vic and NSW (which will incorporate some of Easter) so that you know if there is overlap with when you will be wanting accommodation. Again, can be hard to get a place at the last minute.

Be careful with Easter long weekend coming up, it's a public holiday from Friday 7 April to Monday 10 April, so people tend to go camping and on road trips from Thursday to Tuesday. Pre-book your accommodations early! Tues April 25 is also a public holiday, so that weekend beforehand would be busy too wherever you'll be by then :)

Our Southern West Aussie beaches are squeaky and the water so clear because of the high content of Quartz sand, there really isn't any silt to muddy anything up. I grew up in Albany, sorry you lucked out in Esperance. Roos are bloody everywhere, you will get close encounters, just hopefully not while driving, stay safe guys, love the videos.

Esperance is so beautiful. The turquoise colour and white sand look like come out straight from adverts. They are also protected like many places in Australia to keep it as pristine and as untouched as possible. The number of wildlife preserved areas in Australia is on the top list in the world.

When doing research for a trip, I often search booking or Airbnb for the very next day, the next weekend, and sometime a week or two in the future, for a handful of places I want to visit. This gives me an idea of last minute availability as well how much prices might increase the closer to check in you book. Then I take note of destinations with limited availability or that jump up prices sharply and write a reminder to book those places in advance. This really helps to stay flexible while still creating a safety net. Thanks for another great vlog today! Good luck on your next leg of your journey 💗

It's going to be near impossible to book accommodation over the Easter break now, except to the expensive ones. Then, you guys may be staying in a roadhouse come Easter 😄 Road trains are the semi (and B) trailers - the one parked at your motel is a just a truck 😁 Couple of safety tips: 1. Don't approach an adult kangaroo too close as some can be aggressive and their hind legs and hoofs can easily tear into you. 2. Don't venture away from the highway driving across the bight and use your common sense when someone offers you things that are too good to be true. There have been reported incidents with tourists in the Aussie outback.

I have done the Nullarbor trip over a dozen times both ways. You drive out of WA without being checked into South Australia. The South Australia checkpoint for fruit and vegetables is as you arrive in Eucla - a long way from the real state borders. The ridiculous thing is that there is a road that goes around the checkpoint if you check on google maps. On the left just before you arrive at Eucla. I don't like checkpoints so always take this. You will have no problems on the Nullarbor. Just a lot of driving which you are sensibly breaking up. My only advice is to keep plenty of water in the boot (trunk for you). There are many days that you will have no water available - so carry plenty. You will find the trip memorable. Happy travels!

Enjoy your great adventure across the Nullarbor. I don’t think people want to weigh you down with their worries. They just want you to have a wonderful experience of our country. Plus a certain generation of Australians have seen way too many media reports about what happens when people, often tourists, aren’t prepared for the vast distances and potential issues. These days the roads are in better shape, there’s a bit more traffic, and we have mobile phones that have coverage in some places. As that old saying goes: prepare for the worst, expect the best. Looking forward to the next vlog.

The nullabor isn't that bad. Crossed a couple of times . Showing my age now but as a teenager I crossed before it was bitumen. Giant potholes in those days and at the time there was a bush fire. Kangaroos, camels and even flocks of budgies fleeing the fire. Just follow advise and you will be fine. Sorry Esperance turned out the way it did. Def book ahead for place to stay in eastern states as Easter and school holidays coming !! Enjoy the unique experience & happy anniversary . 💐

You have a long journey ahead with towns so small you would miss them if you blink. When they say last major settlement for 1000 miles, they really mean nothing bigger than a service station. Don't underestimate your fuel stops. If you think you should top it up then do. Have plenty of Water. Also for the car. Kangaroos don't always stick to schedule. Be careful near Dusk and Dawn for many animals gather near the road to drink water that gathers in the ditches next to the road. Without a Roo Bar your car would be totalled easily by a kangaroo.

First off, Happy Anniversary! hope it's a good one. Road trains are the Semi's (trucks) with multiple trailers and they can get looooong, so if you are going to overtake one make sure you have a very long clear stretch to get past, when you pass them going in the opposite direction they create a small suction towards them so keep a little more to the left (not enough to suck you in but if you are not expecting it can give you a little scare). The Nullarbor is the longest, flattest, straightest road in OZ. The blueberry is not an off road vehicle so stick to the sealed road. In spite of the sparse everything there, there is still some great sights you don't want to miss. The worlds longest golf course runs along the length of the road your on. The Nullarbor cliffs, about a 90 - 100 meter drop to the sea, simply a stunning, unique view. The views on the WA side are a bit different to the SA side so check out both. Eucla sand dunes. Giant Kangaroo A must at night is to check out the night sky, if you are city dwellers the night sky view is freaking awesome, no light pollution so you will see more than you have ever seen before, see if you can find the Southern Cross (it's on the Aussie flag.) There is a fruit and vegetable check point (there is stuff you can't take across the border to keep things like fruit fly from crossing) Important: Try not to travel at dawn and dusk (anywhere in the Aussie bush) or use great caution, this is the time when animals are likely to be crossing the road, Camels, Kangaroos etc. Hitting a Roo would take out the blueberry and possibly you too, so be careful during that time guys. You will be entering my home state in a few days. Here's some places to see. The Barossa Valley. A beautiful valley that is home to the premium wine area of Oz, the best wine in Oz, (other states getting grumpy about now, lol) Cleland Wildlife Park. There are few enclosures for animals, most roam free, you can feed and gently pat kangaroos, hold a Koala, check out Emus etc. Kangaroo Island (third largest island in Oz) lots of wildlife, seals, kangaroos, koalas etc. A short car ferry trip. You just missed the largest arts festival in Australia, so us South Aussies might be a bit partied out (for about 4 or 5 days). Be careful and have fun.

The Nullarbor is a piece of cake, it's the busiest east to west road so there is always traffic in case of breakdown...modern cars have plenty of range to reach all the stops...dunno if the roadhouses still close at night like they did in the mid 90's. Beware starting the drive early, there are no hills or trees and the sun rises in the direction you're travelling so if you do prepare for sun in your eyes.

Best coffee and accommodation in WA is at the roadhouse right on the State Border (not Eucla). However Eucla has a good camp ground and restaurant too, and the cheapest fuel. The Roe plains (starting at Madura - don’t skip the lookout!) are an old sea bed - lots of old shells and coral still there from millions of years ago. Good home cooked pastries etc at Mundrabilla Roadhouse. 👌👌 Next best coffee after the WA/SA Border is Nullarbor Roadhouse! Happy travels you two. You will be fine.

I remember travelling across the Nullarbor when it was only a dirt road in the early 70's. I was abot 7 years old and I remember my dad stopped to check on a car that was stopped on the side of the road. It was expected that you checked people were ok and not broken down as it was life and death back then. Anyway, we found two people in the car deceased. I was told it was due to the heat /sun. We drove a number of hours to the next town and notified the police of the bodies. Australia was truelly about life and death then.

Local knowledge is important. Starvation Bay has free Camping and is just west of Esperance.

Just a note ,that a lot of our wildlife is nocturnal, though there's roos everywhere in our bush and you should come across emus. The 2nd largest land bird in the world. We call them bush chooks

That is indeed the best beach in the world, you are sharing our secrets 😊. As a West Aussie who has travelled the world it is so disappointing going to beaches elsewhere in the world, although the beach in Talum Mexico was pretty good 😊

I saw a kangaroo at Lucky Bay in the middle of the day, but yes they are usually dawn and dusk feeders. Have fun.

Sorry guys those are trucks at Norseman, nor roadtrains. You will I am sure encounter some roadtrains on the Nullabor. Safe travelling. Can't wait for tomorrows episode!

Road train is a term only for the long multi trainer trucks. Australia has the worlds longest trucks with the current record being 112 trailers. This is literally a road train. Be sure to stock up on water and watch your fuel going across Nullarbor.

Lucky Bay is a stunning beach. The only other beach that is equally awesome is Whitehaven Beach in Qld. But we are so lucky to have so many beautiful beaches in our country. 😃🌅

Squeaky Beach in Victoria (Wilson's Promontory). Go there on a summer's day and you'll feel like you're far, far away from Victoria and have been whisked away to some exotic tropical island 😂. It definitely has that "Photoshopped" feeling too! 😄

Lucky Bay was voted whitest beach in Australia a while back. Due to the high Silica content in the sand it is extremly white and it would be very squeaky to walk on

As long as the journey is on tarmac, you'll be fine. Things get a lot trickier if you are 4x4ing. So crossing the Nullarbor even on a bike is fine. However, if you were to be more adventurous and go via the anne beadell highway for example.... then people should be a little worried for you.
