Damn bro, I opened YT to do the S.A.D. scroll and this was the very first video. I’m also literally a therapist and I appreciate the message you shared at the end. We often forget that humans are also animals with circadian rhythms and we’re supposed to be hibernating right now, but societal pressures tell us we’re supposed to act and produce the same like we do in the summer. That’s why we’ve gotta supplement with vitamins and light that’s more available during the summer months so we can get up and go. Wish more places normalized slowing down, resting, and reflecting like you did. Anyway, watching this and typing this gave me some energy to get up and go meditate / reflect, glad this was the first video that met me instead of finding it after scrolling aimlessly for hours 👌🏾

The skit took the exact words out of my mouth! I have been depressed throughout the season and I hope to go through it. I recently took on a new job during the holidays and was filled with self doubt. I thought, "for what?" The staff are great and takes me back to my happier, younger years, but something tells me that I'm not doing enough to give in. But this video made me smile, thank you 😊

Bro it's right now for me because I have PVB(Post vacation blues) I get very very emotional when my vacation is over. I'm leaving my Grandparents and Siblings(in College) and staying alone with my dad because my mum traveled for Work. I'm just alone when my dad is working. And it makes me feel so bad. I'm tearing up rn and I've got school in 10 hours. I feel so sad but I'll get over it in 2-4 weeks when I don't think about it from school stress before my test. December and July are the best times. Especially July marking the end of school and my Birthday at the same time. Goodbye and I'll have some Orange slices Tommorow.

I think SAD also happens because the holidays are over. The decorations are being taken down, no more tasty treats and everyone's starting a healthy diet, no more looking forward to spending time with our families. Closest holiday is 6 weeks from New Years celebrations, and that's more of a "happy you have a romantic partner" holiday, which some people do not have. SAD has a lot of layers to it. I am glad to hear that winter needs to be recognized as a self reflection period. Gives us something to work on.

In 2009, my friend died during a deployment. The very next year, I thought about him and got a little depressed. But then I immediately remembered how he was caught choking his chicken multiple times and how he once tried to show off his “penis puppetry” skills to us while we all threw trash at him to make him stop. Remembering those moments made me laugh. You need a good mix of happy and sad memories to truly appreciate the beauty of life.

I'm glad the days are getting longer. I feel better now. When standard time starts (no daylight after work) that's when I get S.A.D. but when the daylight starts coming back after work!! That is the best! Where I live, the summer is the time it's unbearable to go outside (way too hot!! 90-110°F) and I only go outside when it's cool but when they take the daylight from me (⁉️😥)
