@@mybluguitar6051 sound engineer did a great job, but it helps that you've got a lot of the frequency spectrum covered from low to high between a piano and the drums. They're already gonna sound very full together, and when you throw on the effects (reverb, some chorus, possibly a little bit of flange even) you're gonna get some nice results. I'm still amazed at the range of sound they get, though, it's all solid work all around.

My favorite fact about this keyboardist Minoru Mukaiya is that he wrote entire music theme for Tokyo's train stations. Minoru Mukaiya is famous for his giant love of trains. Every station in Tokyo have a special "jingle". But if you sum up all these jingles of all train stations, they will come up into a song. You should google that up, it's fucking incredible. As Minoru Mukaiya himself. The way he talks about it...oh I wish all teachers would talk like that about their subjects, like Minoru talks about trains. You guys definitely need to find and watch the video.

Minoru is playing Yamaha DX series of synths here ( the top synth is a DX7 ) but for the actual solo he is using a TX816 rack ( that's 8 DX7's in a single rack! ) with layered patches to give it that lush, chorused and fat sound. The keyboard is a Yamaha KX88, a very good midi controller at the time. If you want to get some of his patches, they are very easy to get online as a sysex file for the DX7. Just type in Minoru Mukaiya DX7 syx and you should be able to get them real quick!
