Yes! After a meet-n-greet; they became best buds and went to Noodles-n-Company for dinner. The impala paid and left a big tip.

+David Simmons they do, and in fact mother impalas often try to act as distractions in order to lure predators away from their fawns. A lot of animals have insight and reason; they're not all purely instinct driven.

Ever seen a cat playing with a mouse before? Exactly the same thing here. For predators the thrill is in the chase, particularly if your belly is already full of the mother.

For all those people who think that this is touchy, and how leopards aren't just killers. The fawn clearly didn't have a mother - and when a fawn loses it's mother, it loses it's life. The leopard didn't look old, looked fairly new. But honestly, the leopard would get hungry. And any leopard will kill, any animal will eat when they are hungry. The leopard knew the fawn would die, and he knew that why waste a perfectly good length of stamina in gripping the fawn to kill it, when it could just die in front of it. When he got hungry enough, he'd kill it. Easy as pie.
