The art of conversation - talking AND listening really can shrink an already small world! Think of the people who are having a miserable day or are struggling through something, just a 10 minute chat can sometimes make a huge difference if only for a little while, not to mention if there is something in common neither would ever expect. Oh and I tried adjusting my sideburns but they aren't dense enough. It looks like I either missed a spot while shaving my head or messed up trimming my beard. Oh well, back to the old way. Talking about unusual happenstances, I grew up in a city in Virginia where my dad was a supervisor with General Electric. Years later after I got married, my wife and I moved to Pennsylvania. One day we were in a mall in the town we were living in, and a lady walked up to me whom I had never met, and said your father is Joseph Carderelli, isn't it? I was very surprised that someone whom i'd never met recognized me just buy my resemblance to my father and made that connection even though we were 200 miles away from my hometown.

I had a conversation very similar to yours with an elderly woman who has owned a bakery in my neighborhood forever and somehow got on the topic of where I grew up and she knew all about because she owned a 2 flat there. We talked for quite awhile reminiscing and it was such a great experience.

When i turned 25, i was working at a company that posted the birthdays on the board. One of the girls i worked with mentioned that to me and said that she also had a birthday that month. We continued to talk it out and discovered that we were born within a few hrs of each other at the same hospital. I apologized for not recognizing her and she said 'its ok, ive really grown up alot since then'.

This really happened w/my wife but in a bad way. She got her past trauma memories back 3 years ago that happened to her over 20 years ago. It’s a past that is hurting her present. She is in therapy now for it
