Question🙋‍♀️ : Do women still engage in the traditional roles of cooking, cleaning, taking care of children and their husbands today?
Or is it time to take tradition back into our hands?
How fluid are the roles in your home - Must you also check the bath water temperature for your husband?
We'd love to hear from you. Let us know in the comments below.

Thanks ladies for sharing your views on this topic. Could you please do another show related to traditional schools vs international schools. Are the prestigious traditional schools that we had years ago still so relevant in the modern day era? Beverly talked about traditional being an experience, do you think the experience of traditional schools is still worth it for our kids in this day and age?

Hello bump love. I love the show and I've been watching from the first episodes. The first episodes had few to no reactions at all until it gained ground. But i loved it. And the few subscribers we were. That said, if we keep comparing the ladies, we will show that we never learned from the former group but were rather entertained. If we can think of the comparison and not write it and learn more than we compare, it would be great. Otherwise some of us nursed the heart break and then created room for the new group and it's doing great so far. We appreciate all the positive impact it's had on our lives.

In your first episode of Bump Love 2.0, you discussed whether children are a setback, ultimately conveying that children are not a setback and that women can achieve just as much, if not more, by having a husband and a family. However, this episode implies that a mother working in Addis, despite having systems in place to ensure her husband's needs are met, may still leave her husband feeling neglected simply because it isn't his wife attending to him. This suggests that she must somehow forgo her job to ensure her husband and family are cared for. In the original Bump Love, the panelists had strong and diverse opinions, representing different women's perspectives. In Bump Love 2.0, however, it seems that only a conservative Christian woman adhering to traditional roles is represented. This is evident in how none of the current panelists seem able to discuss womanhood outside the roles of wife and mother. As a dedicated viewer from the beginning, I've noticed that in 2.0, Manuela exclusively introduces and leads the conversations. In contrast, previously, each lady took turns hosting and sharing their unique perspectives. The first three episodes of 2.0 have felt like they represent only one type of woman, speaking with one voice and tone, rather than offering diverse viewpoints. I love Bump Love and hope that as you continue to host, you challenge opinions beyond your own. The show's strength has always been allowing all women to see themselves represented. Over the years, I've always felt represented by at least one of the panelists in various episodes, but since 2.0, I no longer feel represented, which is disheartening for a show I love. Bev was the only one who challenged the idea that “women don't do traditionally men's jobs better than men, but men do traditionally women's jobs better than women”. She also asked, "What is womanhood for women who are not mothers or wives?" We are women first, before we are wives or mothers. If a panel of admired and respected ladies like yourselves cannot answer what womanhood is outside these roles, it sends the wrong message. I hope to see all three of you challenge yourselves more as the show progresses.

@prityprecious3504 Ай бұрын
This is well said and I hope it can be received as intended. So far I've failed to finish any of the episodes and I was excited and open for 2.0. Hopefully there can be a change otherwise it can just be stated that this is the new normal and explicitly stated that this show is for a specific type of woman.

@natasha19973: I would say allow time to uncover the hidden treasures. Allow change otherwise we may fail to learn just because we disagree with the change. (Let's make the good from what is called bad) But in my opinion still I'm just seeing and hearing good. If you really analyze, you will realize all these women are speaking wisdom not only what we want to hear. Barbara and Bev are great women with wisdom. Thanks M.M for the new looks. Time, time, time. (Allow time to speak)

And I hope you are right, @manuelap.mulondo and I am wrong. I have truly supported Bump Love and believed that constructive feedback was something the show welcomes. My opinions, or "paragraphs" as you put it, were never meant to be anything but that. If you have chosen to receive them as premature, I can only hope you are right because I genuinely was rooting for Bump Love. And if I am wrong, I would not have any shame in admitting it. I hope Bump love would be able to do the same as well.

Traditions are about values. It's about what you as a family decide works for you. It's influenced by character. Each person's circumstances are different. What I see as roles are: as a woman I am the only one capable of being pregnant and giving birth. Other than that everything else is interchangeable.

Thank you ladies for such a beautiful show, i just want to add on my opinion on how singles can embrace the womanhood in a traditional way. so for me there was a time i had some medical condition where by doctors had told me that i wont be able to have children but thanks be to our miracle working God he healed me though am not married yet but am sure that i will be a mother of my own children, so at a time when the doctors gave me that report...i told myself that i would just finish school, get a job, take care of my parents, help my siblings and their children and get some disadvantaged children that i can support through school within my capacity and just live my life. So you see that bit of motherhood still stems out of a woman regardless whether they are married or not. once again thank you ladies, bump love 1.0 was great but this bump love 2.0 is definitely gonna be great too.👌

Thanks for the lovely episode ladies. It’s interesting thinking about traditional roles in the context of Africa and I agree that it’s responsible for the still remaining sanity we see in the family unit in Africa. Having lived in California for a while now, I realize in other parts of the world, the roles are non-existent and anyone can do anything when in comes to family roles. Is it a bad thing? Not completely. I think I like to keep to the scripture that says wives submit and husbands love. That’s principle and is necessary for the marriage/family institution to work. However what that looks like for an African man vs a white might differ and therefore left to the discretion of the family

In this day & time,it's great to see that we are slowly but surely getting back to such convos of men vs women dynamics. That whole notion of everything a man does, a woman can do is a fallacy which unfortunately most of us women realise when it's already too late & as Barbara said, we are bitter & jaded. (Yes, there are unavoidable situations of single parenthood, but it's not a choice many pple want.) The dynamic of switching personas/alter egos frm the kicking ass business woman to the mother/wife when one gets home & vice versa(stay at home dads)...it's very doable but it takes alot of mental & emotional maturity from both partners with lots of God's grace in the middle. Traditional & modern can be merged & actually work when well balanced. Thanks Ladies!

As a wife, I can create systems that work for our home, I don't have to chop the onions myself if I can use my mouth and money to cook. I have cooked by instruction. But I can serve the food without going through the hustle of preparation. However there's no system that can replace intimacy with my husband. Men and women shd be able to major on the majors. What is that thing if ignored or substituted will leave me with no marriage/family to come to, traditional or not?

How would you as a mother and wife feel if you returned home after several days from being the amazing career woman that you can be and find your children and home messed up and not taken care of? This conversation really scratched the surface on some issues. I've seen women try to venture into the male fields and looked down upon by ourselves(me inclusive). I've seen female barbers, female taxi conductors, a female bodaboda rider laughed at. I've witnessed a lady reject a female nail beautician for the male counterpart. We are not equal to men but we need to cheer on women venturing into non conventional roles

Interesting conversation about transiting from our traditional values to modernity which risks breaking the moral fabric of our African family however, Its incumbent to us now to blend our essential traditional values with the so called modern ones Thank you for the good deliberation

This show went back in time to women being in the stone age. Disappointed but Beverly (lady in yellow) tried her best to keep it 100. Her daughters will grow up to be women who will not settle for a man who wants them to be a home maker but be the next president.

30:09 the more i have this conversation about who earns more in a marriage the more i get more accepting of a man who earns less than his wife. Its difficult but doable. You have to remind yourself that roles are not hierarchy. Nonetheless i still believe God's original plan was for men to lead EVEN or especially in providing. And whenever it strays from that there's bound to be turmoil. I have seen women who are willing to be providers but in the long run because its not in our nature to be the primary providers we get frustrated and thats when you hear women kulangiraring their men. Because they Re not built for that. If that happens i would I love to think of that as being a season while my man tries to get to a place where he can earn and be the primary provider. Im still single and may be naive but im grateful to be hearing this deliberation before i go there especially with the changing times.

29:37 in a situation where roles change and the woman earns more, and calls the shots, it takes an incredible amount of self discipline and humility to even feign the idea of the inherent roles Manuela. I thinks its even close to impossible.
