Maybe there were family members with allergies, and a conversation with the doctor was required before impulsively committing. Maybe another family had a previous down-payment or claim pending and they had to wait it out to see. We commenters are a judgy group based on no information at all. For instance, I thought I noticed the older child holding deep quiet emotions while thinking a little occasional gratification frustration was probably good in the long run for the punishing pout faced little one - I had to remind myself that a 30 second video shows me nothing true about anyone or anything.

Also- people are acting like the parents said "we're getting a dog- go pick one.. actually nevermind.." and that's why the little girl is crying. The most likely thing is they just went to see the dogs with no real intention of getting one- (probably hoping interacting with a dog would get the kids to stop asking for one). I can't even tell you how many times my parents did that with me as a kid. Yeah it was disappointing coming out of the places without a dog even though I had been ecstatic about a specific one.. and we NEVER did end up getting one... Hilarious people think this is cruel. I'm sure half of ya will end up raising little entitled brats who expect everything to go their way and always get what they want.

Agreed. In psych, we learned about these parenting drivers that many parents exhibit. Basically, the parents implies a try hard, try hard, try hard, and mentality, but the parent doesn't want their child to succeed because once the child succeeds then the parent feels they're unneeded. Kids with deep-seated trauma and resentment often have this dynamic. It is very difficult because this occurs all under the surface, and both child and parent can be completely unaware this is happening. Oftentimes, there's still immense love between parent and child in this process, and that's where healing can begin.

My mother did the same exact thing to me in 3rd grade. I had asked for a simple Halloween costume to take to my class’ Halloween party for weeks. The day before, she told me she didn’t get it for me after insisting that she did. I cried so hard in the car while she left me in there. 15 minutes later she came to bring me in saying it was just a surprise and the costume was actually in the house. I began to cry even harder because I didn’t understand why she would do something so cruel. She got my hopes up only to bring them crashing down for a “surprise.” I really felt for those girlies, they’re going to remember the sorrow they felt that day for the rest of their lives.

This brings to mind Ruby Franke, who just got sentenced to 60 years for child abuse. What is wrong with these people?

Asking the kids what to look for the next time they went out shows that the kids really believed that the parents weren’t getting that puppy. If there was an issue with the dog being adopted on the spot, don’t you think it would have been better all the way around if they explained in simple terms that the puppy needed to stay a little longer but when it was healthy and ready then they would go pick the pup up? Agree. Why break their little hearts in the first place? The planned surprise quickly went awry and shouldn't have continued once it became apparent how broken hearted the kids felt. Still, I think the parents hearts were in the right place, they just didn't anticipate such a strong reaction.

Most shelters have a process that makes sure that the owner and dog fit before adoption. It's in the best interest for both the dog and owners to do this, owners need to understand the financial responsibility and the owners need to know that the dog is safe to have in their home.

Causing them unnecessary emotional stress is not the same as teasing or joking If this is a pattern of behavior to manipulate them and turn on a camera it is not healthy. My child is embarrassed if anyone sees him cry, I think most people would prefer to not be filmed while having such big emotions. Maybe the parents are being a little insensitive by posting raw emotions for the world to see.

it was genuine, but unnecessary, i woudl have rather just seen the happy part when they get their puppy, cute kids, but i have never exploited my two daughter on tik tok or you tube either or make them purposely cry then happy so i could get more clicks, its kind of cruel even with the the good intentions in the end, it made me feel like the video was more important the her kids, i could never disappoint mine like that ever even if it was just a joke.@@user-ic6gh8oj2r

I do this to my children a lot. Tell them no until they are beyond broken and traumatized and then come through so they love you. It works well. It's how I got my fourth wife to marry me.
