I completely agree, though I don’t know if it’s the tree resetting its clock. Instead, I suspect the tree may simply be taking its time trying to acclimate to its new environment. This adjustment period does vary from tree to tree. The way I see it, if the tree is doing fine, it’ll eventually set fruit, as shown by my larger Ice Cream Bean tree in my backyard.

I haven’t tested the range, but from some of my videos, it gives you a rough idea of the wireless distance. Unfortunately, the mic does not seem to improve my singing voice.

This is very true. Specific to the tree shown in the video, I did enclose it in a temporary greenhouse over the winter. As it matures, I will not be protecting it as it should be able to handle the winter, albeit with minimal damage.

Assuming your seedlings are fairly new, as in, within the past 6 months, it’s likely the stress of the outdoor environment. Bear in the mind, the seedlings were in a controlled environment then all of a sudden, they’re exposed to the heat, sun, wind, etc. This can send them into shock. With seedlings, it’s best to slowly move them to complete shade outdoors for several weeks. Then slowly adjust sun exposure as in, give them a few hours of direct sun in the morning, then shade for more weeks. Repeat this process until you’re confident all are acclimated to the outdoors.

@@TropicalCentralValley they actually died before taking them outside. I took them outside cause I thought maybe the little growlight and morning sun window wasnt enough. Brought them back in today. Might just keep up inside until temps drop back down to the 80s then maybe cover them in a small green house for the winter .

@@TropicalCentralValley also have like 6 avocados growing that i put in full sun the other day and several seem to have lost leaves but i think its due to insects. Either way brought them back under the tree where the sun shines through in for limited time

That’s a bummer about the guava seedlings. Concerning your avocados, assuming they’re grafted, their green trunks burn easily. I would recommend filter sun throughout the day if possible, especially this week.

So with jackfruits, I’m taking a different approach. The grafted, matured trees do not acclimate well, especially to our dry summer heat. That being the case, I have been growing them from seeds. The neat thing about growing them from seeds is that they generally only take 2-3 years to start to produce fruits.

Assuming you don’t already have a wind breaker or parent tree, I would recommend the planting of Giant Timber bamboo and Jamun or Capulin Cherry. The Jamun and Capulin Cherry trees grow insanely fast and can handle the frost and direct summer sun. Once grown, more sensitive tropical fruit trees can be planted under the canopy of these protection trees.

If they’re Black Oaks, they will not allow other trees to grow nearby. I’m not sure about all other Oak trees.

That being the case, to err on the side of caution, I would avoid the region entirely. The Black Oak perform “chemical warfare” with its roots, making the soil incredibly hostile to nearby trees.

Nope, still recording in gorgeous 30fps 4K HDR (Adobe Vision) ProRes RAW. If your bandwidth and device supports it, I recommend increasing your KZfaq app to 4K HDR; the graininess will go away as you increase the videos resolution.

Your climate should be no problem for star apples. For reference, in my region, today was 109°F and forecast is high 100°s this week.

They prefer a lot of humidity, much more than any city in California can provide, at around 90%, at all times. That’s not to say they won’t produce fruits here. If able to, see if you can ever so slightly increase the humidity.

Mine too succumbed to last years winter, and it was in a heated greenhouse set to 45°F. They are extremely cold sensitive. That said, if you’re able to get them to a certain size, winter becomes less and less damaging.

Heavy compost and fertilizer now with lots of water. Most soursop are setting fruit now and will continue to flower most of the year with proper fertilization and water. One of my trees flowered for the first time in January and the little cold we got in South Florida killed them off. After much compost/organic fertilizing, and watering in this drought, the tree is flowering again now with ample time for fruit to mature before the cold returns. Good luck

Basically anything you can do to help the tree reach a good size, it’ll be better able to handle the cold/heat. I had a mature soursop that flowered, but as with most annonas, I keep missing the hand pollination window.

@@madfarm I started heavy composting about 3 months ago I’m hoping that does the trick . I’ve been feeding it scraps that I throw out and 10/10/10 fertilizer along with trace minerals and started watering every day to every other day. The tree is about 71/2 ft tall grown from seed
