@@mattmarzula I enjoy WWII fictional yarns based on real events. The underdog group taking on the Big Bad Foe. Any time I hear..."based on a true story", I assume a loosely based factual depiction. Otherwise it would be labeled a Documentary movie. That said, I look to be entertained by the content. I suspend reality in the telling of a fictional story. I was drawn to the movie bc of the actors that were in it. Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, Cary Elwes, Til Schweiger. I thought it was great bc of how the actors I knew vs the ones I didnt interacted with each other within the fictional story. The factual part of the story, an event like this happened. From my brief looking into this. No one was killed. There wasn't a female involved. I was entertained, bottom line.

@@karlgreenkgv I look at it this way...I drive to the theater $, pay the fee for the movie and then pay a fee for the treats, popcorn etc...for where I live, $40 for myself. So I take a chance on a movie every once in a while. Check out reviews. Sometimes I win. My advice is to wait a while. Just to see if it's something you are interested in

Little more than a glorified cartoon. Major "Gus" March Phillips never went to prison, was made an MBE and he and his unit were professionals. Not a shot was fired and the mission was carried out perfectly. Mostly because attacking the Island of Fernando Poo openly would have made Spain to enter the War. Not that Spain would have changed the outcome of the war, but Britain could have lost Gibraltar very easily and that would have closed the Med to the Royal Navy for quite some time. Thus, no attacks on Rommel's convoys and no Operation Torch.

@@Pink.andahalf Gibraltar was never attacked after 1714. Have you been there? You can just bomb the heck out of it with artillery into oblivion. Blockading its land access is super easy. Blockading its port is harder, but nothing that cannot be done by sinking a couple ships at its entrance.. Its only airfield is (Ilegally I might add) on Spanish soil(It wasn't there in the 1940s, so it was not an issue) It's been labelled as a Colony by the UN and the only reasons it's still British are NATO and Britain's nukes.

This being a Guy Ritchie film I must say it was pretty disappointing. A linear cartoonish action movie lacking suspense that any remotely talented director could make. And of course not the slightest attempt to make it look and feel as if it was really happening in the nineteen-forties.
