So for now, it’s goodbye to the coyotes and hockey in Arizona. Throughout the years, Arizona brought in a strong and passionate fanbase and provided the league with some of the best moments of the 2000s. Whether it was against them or for them, the Coyotes are a part of NHL history. They sparked a passion in hockey for soon to be one of the greatest goal scorers ever and they developed a strong youth hockey program in Arizona. If this is it for professional hockey in the desert, it was not wasted.

Bad Management. Great fans. Feel horrible for the fans. Can’t even imagine losing my team

I lost my team when I was 10 in 1995 and the Avs won the cup. My 2 favorite players were Bure and Bondra so I just picked 2 teams. Did get a cup 2018 but I still feel like a fraud 😂

I'm too old. Sorry to be picky, but "Minnesota was excited to get their first professional hockey team". Let's not forget Mike Modano and the Minnesota North Stars. I mean, there was the original six in the NHL post-Depression, and that expanded to twelve in 1967, with Minnesota being one of those teams. I just watched your excellent video on the NHL's decline, and your point about the sport being too expensive while not marketing its skilled players really hits home. I think the Coyotes represent that expansion-mindset that Bettman brought. That Jack Welch-vibe. This comment is left by a fellow-youtuber so please also know that I think you're doing excellent work and analysis

Desert Diamond Arena is actually a really nice arena, and Westgate is nice. But it’s just out in the middle of nowhere. That was the problem

As a Utahan that lives just 30 min from Salt Lake City I’m ecstatic that we get a NHL team! But I also feel for the fans of the yotes.

As a die-hard fan since 1996 it'll take me a long time to recover. That owner lingering around makes it worse - even though many of his apologists will do anything to protect him for Coyotes 2.0. I don't want this owner anywhere near a return team (even if it means not getting one for longer).

Errors: "MN was looking to get their first new professional hockey team"...um the North Stars were there for decades before moving to Dallas. "The renovation to their Scottsdale rink didn't work out so the Coyotes moved to Glendale"..um the city council voted down a proposed rink in Scottsdale, therefore a rink was build in Glendale with large subsidies as the Coyotes then moved from the shared Suns basketball facility in Downtown Phoenix. Had to stop watching at this point as credibility is lost. Sorry.

A bit of a correction... While Salt Lake City is going to get the 2034 Winter Olympics, its not likely to end up in a new arena for the Jazz and NHL team. Separate from that, the Utah legislature passed a bill authorizing the city to raise sales taxes by 0.5% for 30 years to generate income to pay for bonds to borrow money for an entertainment district. Part of that entertainment district is going to be put toward the arena. Current play by the Smiths is to renovate the Delta Center to make it a better hockey viewing experience, but we're light on details. An entirely new arena does not seem likely at this moment.

the state gives him 900 million for an arena, he uses that to buy an nhl team, along with his own 300 million, then decides to NOT build that arena instead, upgrade the arena with 5000 obstructed view seats, im sorry, but already he isnt keeping the original plan, he is starting to sound like ex yotes owner AM... this team cant catch a greak.... dont let the smiths slowly allow the team to fail , not fulfill the promises, we saw too much of that and it will lead to failure..... i will still follow the team on Scrpps channel 61 home and away, from the comfort of my unobstructed viewing couch without the 12 dollar beers, good luck in UTAH boy, we will ve rooting for you

If you train at altitude, you acclimate and have an advantage over other teams. You know people live in CO and UT and think nothing of it, it's their norm

@@pagejames8754 yeah it might be a good advantage in longer home-game stretches where they can actually capitalise on the effect (but with the teams being on the road all the time it might just be harder for them AND their opponent :D)
