Don't forget the key plot detail that locks out the true ending because you didn't head out of your way to grab a item from a temple only mentioned in a skip able cutscene and since you skipped all cutscenes up to the unskipable one you didn't know of the legendary artifacts existence.

Not to mention we finally got backstory for Lysanderoth. I know some people consider it forced, but the foreshadowing of him wanting to open the Chaos Door in order to resurrect his sister and reform his broken family was there ever since the introduction of Gunther. It's a real tragedy that Lysanderoth was forced to hide his good intentions from the others, for he was a master of deception up until the end.

I think this issue occurs because a lot of games in a genre can become copy paste or generic. You know the regular beats it goes through so you get bired and don't bother. Normally I always listen to the story, but even i can't be bothered. I rather learn through the game and listen to cutscenes. Like if I wanted cut scenes galore i would watch a movie. That's prob why I don't play rpgs often. They all are generic and uninteresting but the in-game dialogue and the game play, exploring maps, etc is super fun for me. It really depends on the type of games i think.

To add, even my all time fav, zelda botw, i didn't care for the memories. I watched it on my first play through but i hated it. Later realized I just super hated the English and later changed to japanese audio but the story was plain, i know what it was gonna do, nothing special. I wouldn't miss out on anything if I didn't watch it but i did on my first play through just to ensure I understood the characters. The game itself tho, the in game dialogue with characters were far more fun. I can't explain. Even the random talking about weather was more fun to me that watchijg a cutscene. It just really depends on the person I think and what they are looking for in a particular game.

@@ggundercover3681 maybe you could try playing games with actually *good* stories. I do agree that some games have cutscenes and stories that are pretty much pointless. If you have a ps4/5 I would suggest games like Horizon Zero Dawn or Ghost of Tsushima, or most ps exclusives. HZD especially has a good story with a great build-up and some fantastic world-building, plus i think it’s fun to play.

Game. Game Play. Story Not Game. Not Play. If Game Play then Game Good. If Game Not Play then Not Good. Simple.

That someone better not be me as I am not trying to figure out how to evenly and discreetly place 900 pinecones or make that many egg minigames. The party system would be simple on RPG maker. It would first be a fixed party that adds characters in the order of Dennis, Archibald, Sonja Rica then Lysanderoth, then we remove Lysanderoth and I believe we add unnamed mage to the game. Archibald is permanently removed just before the system begins to allow for party member swapping. Gunther will then be added to the playable roster through story events and Bradicus and Chadicus will be found as optional extras, possibly through sidequests. After the Lysanderoth fight, Sexica will be added to the playable roster. Judging by one of the videos, some sort of replacement Archibald may also be added to the playable roster, giving a total of 7 or 8.

Happened to me once on Disgaea 2. I accidentally skipped the cutscene where we face against Geo Master which gave the answer to his puzzle level.

@@gepettogreco I didn't skip it in my playthrough, but I can see how that would stomp a few people. Even with the hint, you'd need a mid-long range character to reach the thing, and your characters better be alive by the time every single Geo Tile disappeared.

One of the Borderlands 2 DLCs had an unstoppable dialogue segment with an NPC. Went on for like, 3 minutes. Half way through there was a multiple choice question you had to answer or else fail the side quest. So many players got trolled.
