This didn't come from a stream! It's piping hot fresh content made for KZfaq, I swear!
I'm playing on Chess.com -- these aren't sponsored videos but the site seems pretty cool.
Chess has been having a resurgence in popularity this year so I have finally acquiesced to semi-popular demand and started to play a bit. First, let's hone our skills and get a little more warmed up and then let's conquer chess dot com one board gamer at a time.
If you enjoyed the video, please consider hitting the Like button. It helps me out a lot!

NL for one video - "we have to learn to play faster" NL immediately after that video - "time is going to be an issue, they're crushing us on time, what's new?"
@descendency
@descendency 3 жыл бұрын
Part of the problem is that he doesn't have a solid base of openings (you should never think more than a few seconds on move 2... especially in blitz and bullet). Another part of it is is he recalculates too much. If you have a line in your head and your opponent plays the next move - then you need to be confident in your calculation and play the next move faster. It's not bad to check some moves, but NL does this all of the time.

I think something for you to definitely cover in your next lesson with Levy is pawn pushes using these two games maybe as examples. Several occasions I think you overthought yourself about losing a pawn, when simply pushing it would have prevented it from being taken (see c4 at 36:50, this prevents it from being taken by the queen and frees up your queen to go do something else instead of guarding that pawn). I think in most cases it didn't matter so much, but it can save you a pawn or two which as you know matters a whole lot in endgames! Still absolutely pogged at the chess content

At 3:02, there was a possible "fork" mentioned. But to avoid losing a piece (and form an attack), you could've gone pawn g3. If they forked, you could go Bf4 attacking their queen. They would be forced to either block with Bc6 or move their queen. If they block you trade and get rid of a powerful bishop, if they move the queen you could go Ne4 and bypass the fork/get central control. Maybe it would work, but Ne2 worked as well.

@imVidzzz 3 жыл бұрын
@@buddy94445 NL is at an advantage and doesn't necessarily need to trade queens. By putting the opponent in a place where they are pressured to trade queens they can either A) trade their queen in a situation where NL considers removing the queens off the board is better for him than the opponent or B) give away their position and fall back to a spot that makes their queen effectively useless until further development. Basically, if they trade NL comes out ahead, but if they don't NL also gets a positional advantage. There's no point for NL to trade immediately because he can apply pressure somewhere else on the board, as that "situation" is basically solved already
