@@LastKnownMeal dogs still exist. sergei mentions the john wick character and his small dog. And there are some references to dogs but prob only corpos can have them normally.

I hope they will patch in fish , the news report about arasaka ship being a whale gives me flashbacks of skellige. The lizard in penthouse is diffrent the the one nomad V smuggled. Before release i remember elephants and jaguars are also shown in concept art. Of course the fly's and Beatle bugs are plenty .

@@etherallullaby2778 As far as i know its forbidden to have Pets because of the epidemic protection. Having a Dog is more of a privilege you wont see that often i think.

Birds were basically outlawed after various epidemics; there's a line of dialogue about it when V meets Placide, and nearby there's a shard describing the city-wide eradication of birds. At corpo plaza, there's a building filled with greenery and birdsong, but you don't actually see birds in there. Placide doesn't explain where he got his chicken. During the hotel heist, we see a large terrarium, and of course there's the Iguana in Yorinobu's suite. A few cats. I believe V mentions that dogs were the first to disappear when they're talking to Goro during that rooftop observation? And finally, there's that old dairy farm, but it seems to have been a long time since there were any cows there. A shard explains that roaches and worms are primary sources of protein now, though worms aren't popular yet. Sometimes when food is discussed or described, it's mentioned that it's soy-based.

It's apparently a feature of the tabletop games as well, but I agree that uh ... we would not have plants, if this scenario played out. Nor would we have any life whatsoever - a total ecosphere collapse like that is effectively annihilation of all life on earth, no exceptions. In-canon it's largely due to fallout from the 4th corporate war in the 2040s, in which moon-based massdrivers cratered a substantial percentage of all livable space on earth, which lead to two years of 'Red Sky' and blood-like acid rain (gleaned from the setting book Cyberpunk RED). ((I know very little about this setting, I may be off-base on many facts))

Realistically if rats have gone extinct then humans are extinct as well.

There are a number of animals that should still be thriving and abundant. Cat's, dogs pigs chickens and rats. Any situation that led to those animals going extinct would also lead to humans going extinct as well.

They already exist, in some cases, you will have animals made by Biotechnica and other companies for the super-rich, It would have been cool if we could have one definitely, programing those mechanics could be difficult though.

There was a Lake Park in Night City before which had some animals, even being present during the time of the Red after corporate war ended, but because it's excluded in 2077 it's safe to assume it was completely gone.
