Everybody knows that red weighs more than purple. That's why apples are heavier than grapes. Literally the only reason.

The red has a higher ratio of pigmented epoxy resin to carbon fiber mixture. That's why it has more color than black and vise-versa for the purple haze. That would be my guess for the weight difference

If I had to guess, Bestech prob calls the CF finish on the 1st knife mars valley and purple haze in the 2nd

The variance on your scale is likely because the table and or scale are not perfectly level. This results on a difference in the pressure applied to the load cell(s) in the scale depending on where you place the object being measured on the plate. This is why any laboratory balance worth anything has a built in level and you make sure it's level every time before you measure anything. Is that degree of precision required for knife reviews, probably not, but now you know. My guess on why red is heavier is just a different mix of dye/epoxy/cf. More epoxy and die to get the look they wanted probably results in a more dense composition overall.

Purple haze fat carbon looks good on everything for some reason. I wish the inlay screws were black though, but that should be an easy fix. Really good looking knife

If they are that smooth maybe they are using sealed bearings? (If companies even do that?) And if not would like to know if the bearings are lubed with oil or grease. Some super high quality grease is used as lube on the bearings of some modern lithium powered rotational tools like drills n saws n would be perfect to dampen any play in or noise the bearings could produce over time. Wonder which method manufacturers prefer
