Around 2 centuries ago, the Italian Caleiro family started living and doing business in this area of the country. In the beginning, they were a simple farming family, eking out their existence on the land. This, however, changed over the years. As they ventured into other sectors of the farming business, their influence in the area grew, as did their wealth. In the year 1880, they decided to demolish their old small family home and build the grand estate we see today on the grounds with their own private church attached to it. They lived here in peace for over a century. The family was well-known around the area and, even though they remained farmers, they rubbed shoulders with the upperclassmen of the local society. But everything changed in 2015. By then, there were already only a few members of the family left behind, but for no apparent reason, the Caleiro mansion was completely abandoned. Nobody knows what happened to the family or why they left their grand estate behind. Today we are going to explore this mystery, relive the story of the Italian Caleiro family, and venture inside their forgotten mansion.

Here in Canada that building would be completely destryoyed by vandals by now. I like this channel because people over in Europe seem to respect historical icons like these more than over here.

But I really teared up when you took the time to reorganize the contents. You have showed a care that is so rare. I will be watching and supporting your videos from now on. Very touching video.

NEVER in my life have I seen such compassion, integrity and care! ❤❤❤ You guys cleaning up this Beautiful Home brought tears to my eyes!..I have just witnessed REAL Compassion and Respect to a home that once held Laughter, Love, Tears of sorrow, Tears of Happiness, Birthdays, Anniversaries, and much much more!..THANK YOU, this video touched my soul and is Inspiring. 🙏💪❤...You are truly one of a Kind in my books, and your integrity speaks VOLUMES! ---> The Chapel was Breathtaking, although some rooms were a bit in disarray I could still picture people walking around, children playing, people sitting around the table eating a meal, the sound of conversation...👌 I love how ornate things were back then, furniture was made with such class and beauty, I too believe children should have their own room....lol...THUMBS UP 👍❤

The craftsmanship of the sculptures in the church are so amazing. I am so impressed that you take the time to try and clean/restore what once was.! What a grand mansion this must have been when it was lived in in its day. I continue to be in awe of the ceilings in so many of the places you video, they are gorgeous. If this family did farm, they would have had many children to work/help run the farm which would cut down on the cost of hiring laborers. It is sad that vandals are going to these places, taking things and destroying the beauty of how it was left before abandoned. Vanals, it seems have gone through papers to see if there were anything of value? You may have to stop sharing family names/towns of these awesome places you video so this might curtail some vandalism although there are those people that just have no respect for anything. I do remember this mansion from your first video of it, THANK YOU again for trying to clean/place items back out of respect for the owners. It is showing respect for the dead or those who lived there at one time. In the states it is disrespectful to walk on someone's grave or I should say it used to be. Things have changed, not all generations were taught respect for a lot of things sadly. Safe travels to you all.

the note at the 10:00 minutes mark says: "To womhever chooses to visit this house remember that you are GUESTS! Be respectful of the people that lived here and of everything that remains of their memories! Be gentle and don't steal anything... would you like someone to do it to you when you will not be here anymore?" Also at 31:28 : it's a packet of gauze. This house really reminds me of my grandmother who recently passed, she wore the same shoes, clothes with the same prints, she had a fur and a green coat really similar to one that was in one of the wardrobes, even the writing at 24:40 looks like hers. This house really looks like it was inhabited by old people (the clothes, the gauze, the adult diapers)..

Hello there! My mother loves your videos and wanted me to let you know, those "sleds" are actually bed warmers! They would put those hot water bottles, or usually hot bricks/stones into the middle of them, and place them in the bed, then drape the blankets over them to heat everything up. Then, before sleep you'd remove it and hop in a toasty bed!

The "M" on the ceiling of the chapel is for Mary, the Mother of Jesus. The statue shows her ascending into heaven. Above the altar are the words "St Marie Assunta" which is Latin for Saint Mary's Assumption. Keep up the good work. I love your videos!

Thank you for cleaning what vandals have destroyed…you are loved for the respect that you have shown!!! This was such a gorgeous, magnificent home!!! Sooo very many children!!! Sooo very sad that the family can’t save & use this priceless, wonderful wooden, antique furniture!!! The memories that could be saved 👍🙏❤️ If they can’t use the furniture, then sell it & let someone else get some use out of it!!! Yes, most of it would need to be restored… but sooo very worth it!!! The chapel was beautiful!!! The statues were epic & would be sooo very gracious of the family to donate them to a church or a museum!!! Thank you Leslie, for sharing this beautiful property with us!!! I truly loved it 👍🙏❤️

I think the Italian handwritten letter loosely translates as follows: To those who choose to visit this house remember that you are guests. Respect the people who lived here and for all that remains of their memories. Be kind and don't steal anything. Wouldn't you want the same of your house when you will no longer be here?

Love your videos and find your respect and love for the places you visit, simply fascinating. The vests in plastic covering would have come from the cleaner and most importantly the Women and Men often slept apart, and with the wealth and property, would of had separate rooms. You are an amazing human.. I love how you go into a place and clean up what other idiots have destroyed.. It just kills me that people have no respect at all for these abandoned homes.. TY for being so respectful….

I m italian! The notebook said : For who choose to visit this place, just remember you are a visitor! Have respect for people who use to lived here and for all things that remains of they memories. Be gentle and not steal nothing! Would you like someone do it in your house when you're gone?
