Photovision Prints are AMAZING and they sell film for pretty cheap too! The shipping process is a hassle but they are professional and my digital and printed photos are an incredible quality.

Colour at the local lab, black and white and scanning at home. With the current film prices I don't shoot enough colour to justify buying the chemicals for it (and I gravitate towards ditching standard colour negative altogether and just shoot ECN-2 movie film). However for black and white home developement is easy and it's not just cheaper but gives you some control over the finished images as the way you develop and the chemical you use can affect things such as contrast or grain size. Colour is a standardized process that gives you the best result when it's done by the book, it's just better to trust a lab with that.

Learning to develop the film myself sounds like an awesome skill to learn, but sadly my living situation and job doesn’t really allow me to have enough time so this is really great to know.

You should make more videos on film photography to be honest. I think it’d be good for the channel.

I have an local camera store that develops film but damn, its $20 per color roll + scan and it doesn't help that this Kodak Max 400 Color film I found in my uncle's drawer (for who knows how many decades) came out very dark.... So due to that experience, im just gonna scan my film at home, pay for film development service for color and stop shooting color after trying out Portra. For B&W films tho, I do wish to get started on developing them at home after knowing Cinestill's Monobath solution exists...... and B&W films are pretty cheap.

I have been developing my own film since the mid-70s ... I still shoot film every week ... still have a darkroom, but I moved onto the develop negatives and scan workflow. The initial cost for stuff was so long ago that I really think it's now just film and chemistry!!!

Does anyone know of being able to use a Vivitar slide copier with modern film ? It originally used Polaroid 669 peal apart film which is no longer available ? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated, thank you Chris. I also have a Polaroid Button, SX-70, and Spectra cameras. Advice ?

I develop color and b&w myself. Everything I need fits in a wash tub, which I use to keep the chems at the proper temperature. It's easy, and far cheaper than sending it out.

I have 3 rolls of film from 2006.Started as a fall family beach trip to a beach house we used to have.rental season was over so we’d go & spend time,line up work that needed to be done for the next year. My mother & brother we’re having some issues with alcohol & other things..started getting crazy & I had to get out of there. FF a cpl weeks and my mother’s organs started to fail..made it to the hospital but wasn’t conscious since the last night at that beach house. My brother couldn’t develop it & gave it to me 8 or so years ago. I’m ready,if it’s still possible.?.If so …send it off to the place you recommended?

Would there be some reason (quality wise) to take a disposable camera to The Dark Room rather than having CVS do it?
@JustAnotherChris
@JustAnotherChris Жыл бұрын
I could be wrong but I believe CVS send them out to someone else. They just act as a “hub” but I would say send it to someone that is known for developing film. Your going to get someone with the proper experience that way.

Please, if you can support a local camera store that develops film. You will have a faster turn around and you can have a better experience with customer service. Plus you will be supporting your local community as well.

True and I do. I have used several. However it costs me like $40 to have 1 roll developed locally

chemicals and paper keep going up, it's hard to compete with the online people. What we offer is speed, quality, and customer service.
