One of my favorite action movies and a great fan trailer. Great use of the Medal of Honor score. Goes very well with it.

Yes the film is as action-packed as portrayed in this excellent mock trailer. Not just a shoot 'em up either, there's intelligent intrigue and the screenplay doesn't overload you too much with the detail. So every level of movie-goer can enjoy this movie.

+Vern Smith Well not all of it, what I never loved about this film why didn't an NCO from that unit survive, that's shit as, well I will become director and remake this film where they will be 8 men instead of 7, Major Smith, Lieutenant Schaffer, NCO's Traitors Christiansen, Thomas, and Carraclola as Carraclola is introduced to replace Berkeley's part on the film, and as well as Sergeant's Harrod, MacPherson, and also Berkeley is to be replaced for the role and he would become the last surviving NCO, as I should remake the film to be a better story,

+Vern Smith well they will be, and the relationship with Heidi from the novel will be added, sorry for late reply and oh err I had a look into some characters, ones whom might be right for the role of an eight character for the team, I looked from a novel character named Torrance-Smythe he would be right, or their I will choose either canon characters either one for survival Ted Berkeley or their is Jock MacPherson as I thinking adding MacPherson instead for remake since I love the name MacPherson as it would be ok for at least only one sole surviving NCO to survive the team, so make your pick their is Torrance-Smythe, from the novel, Ted Berkeley, or my favourite Jock MacPherson in the remake a survivor tag your pick on which name to choose will it be Berkeley, Torrance-Smythe or MacPherson,

It starts slow with a lot of suspense, but the last 45 min or so is pretty much one long action sequence.

I need to re-run the scene between Smith (Richard Burton) and the German General and Colonel again because by the time I've thought through one part of what he's saying to them he's introduced another twist and turn in the next.

We get quite a cast in this one, all kinds of familiar faces. Derren Nesbitt is my favourite in "Where Eagles Dare," an excellent performance. The action scenes are great. Clint Eastwood initially wasn't very interested in this film until he was paid $800,000 lol!!!!

The Germans did have a few dozen helicopters during WWII if that's what you mean. Look up Focke Achgelis Fa 223. But yeah, its a pretty obscure thing to throw in both the book and film and isn't hugely important to the plot (I only know because I said the same thing when I first watched the film and my Dad corrected me).

Cameron, you've got the billing wrong. Burton first, then Eastwood. Eastwood was only mentioned first in 1970's ads when he became a bigger star than Burton.
@speedracer19453 жыл бұрын
Burton been around longer at the time so got top billing though Eastwood is more famous now than Burton. I always said Anthony Hopkins did a good Richard Burton imitation. I could listen to Burton read the yellow pages since he talks so cool .

One of your best yet, maybe about 20 seconds too long. However the pacing and music was dead on! You share the screen with all the main actors. It's really works well because I am not a big fan of the movie! May I suggest Guns of Navorone or Bridge of River Kiwi NEXT or my favorite Goodfellas!

It is now clear that the Gestapo officer portrayed in this film is overdressed in the uniform of an earlier time in the history of the SS. If the film is taking place in 1944 members of the SS would have assumed the field grey uniforms rather than the sable and silver which were phased out by Himmlers orders. The whole debate about when exactly this change occurred is now all over the internet and indeed it has dogged reenactment for years. Where Eagles Dare can be forgiven as it is a very well directed World War II fantasy . An earlier film also based on Alistair Maclean they use a slightly inaccurate word for a character with SS rank. They call him Hauptmann whereas the title was actually Hauptsturmfuehrer. In Schindlers List Amon Goth does not do the same thing but strangely German dialogue in some of Spielbergs drama has the lilt of a Brooklyn accent. Were they influenced by Yiddish coaches. It's a mystery to me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, Nobody had helicopters in war two , right ? If 'm not mistaken , they were Not available in any numbers till the KOREAN war . They May or May Not have been in production at All . They MIGHT have been on Someone's drawing board sketches but , Production and ISSUE .....hmmm ? Anybody .... ?
@phantoka19979 жыл бұрын
Helicopters did exist in WWII. The Soviets and the German (in particular the Germans) designed a successful helicopter models that later influenced the helicopters we see today. However, the helicopter in this movie is in fact the modern version not the one made in 1943-1945.

They'd have done better to have used a two-seat autogyro, which was avail. in the '30s. The craft shown is an early Bell model from about 1951 -- same type used in filming M.A.S.H.
