Where Have All The Flowers Gone? is a folk song written by American singer-songwriter Pete Seeger in 1955. It was originally written as a three verse song and published in the “Sing Out!” magazine. Additional verses were added in May 1960 by Joe Hickerson. It was inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2002 in the “folk” category. In 2010 the New Statesman listed it as one of the “Top 20 Political Songs”.
I recorded this as an instrumental track on my first album “The Lincolnshire Poacher” back in 2012. Although I was very pleased with my interpretation of this song in instrumental form, I always had a feeling that I would want to return to it one day to re-record it with a vocal track. The simplicity of the words and the power of the message are such integral parts of the song that I always felt any version without a vocal was incomplete. I hope you like the video that accompanies this song and it helps to deliver Pete Seeger’s important message.

I've been to war a lot. Vietnam USMC an USN both. The song is a dream that, noting 6000 years of human history which never changes, will only occur at the coming of The Lord. Nice song especially performed as your singer performs it and such a blessing to dream of how things could be. Seems as though there is always another Hitler or Stalin around the bend. Now Putin! The fact is that the only way to put an end to such a tyrant is to completely destroy him and his entire capability to make war. Only the coming of The Lord will end this vicious cycle. I would like to see him come today.

Thank you Charlie for your very kind comments and positive feedback. I was a teacher myself (UK based) prior to my retirement and what you see on KZfaq under my recording name of “Ellengowan Media Publications” is what I do now in my leisure time. I’m really glad you found the video useful as a resource. Please feel free to pass it on to others as nothing I do now has a commercial angle, it is all for the love of music. As regards the singer, all I can say about her is that she is South African and she works as a freelance vocalist through the website “Fiverr”. I did ask her for her name so that I could credit her on the video and on my website but she preferred to remain anonymous. Kind regards Alan

I just watched a video last night about the Battle of the Somme. It mentioned how many of the dead are still there, on the battlefield. The same is true of Gettysburg. I suppose it's always been true of war, that those who died are quickly discarded and forgotten. But these great mechanized killing machine wars, and the appalling death and destruction left behind just boggles the mind and sobers the heart and soul of all. Especially if you step out on to these former battlefields. The purity of this song, the simplicity of it's words and meanings just breaks the heart. All God wants for us to do is learn to love one another. That's it. And look how complicated we make life... Thank you for creating this video, reminding us of our duty to each other and drawing from great talent to do so. God bless you all! 😊

I think of the many innocent Russian civilians in Donbas and throughout Ukraine who have been persecuted for years by the Ukrainian government and the Russian soldiers who have had to die to liberate the innocent. I would add those who lost their lives on a civilian bridge in Crimea because Ukrainian forces exploited the grain corridor wherein Russia permitted safe passage.

Today, wedding rings are most commonly worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. But some countries including India, Germany, Spain, Norway, and Russia traditionally wear their wedding rings on their right hand." Overall, it seems cultural traditions and norms set the standard for this custom.
