18 years plus is a long life for a pet and they are such treasures. But like you cats are on the allergy no no list along with bird dander. Its the dander. You are on the right track though. First getting tested. Now for the treatment and it will change things I'm sure. I was very sick with allergies. Did the serums for near 8 years. I'm sure you will come up with ways to enjoy plants and keep the allergens to a minimum. Enclosed spaces. Atrium? Greenhouse? I dont have lots of house plants. I'm in Florida. None in the bedroom. Hoyas dont need a lot of soil ... mold is a big problem for me. Isn't vermiculite sterile? I like to use it as a dressing. And top dressings are also good for mold control right. I am not allergic to dogs. Thank the Lord. looking forward to seeing your new plants. Good to see you.

Hello and thank you! ❤️ I have talked to my doctor about allergy shots and it’s something I might explore the future. As of right now, I’m kind of managing it with allergy medication. I am still very hopeful that one day it will go away 😊.

I missed this video as I haven’t been on KZfaq very much lately. I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your hedgehog and cat. I just lost my Service Dog a few weeks ago and it’s absolutely devastating and heartbreaking 💔. You have my deepest sympathies and I truly understand how much it hurts. I did a Temu haul where I break down and cry over the loss of my Zoey. As for allergies and health issues, I was forced to retire from my job due to my physical disabilities that developed 9 years ago, so I do understand what you’re going through. I developed asthma a few years ago and have the same allergies as you and have the air purification systems too. I’m fortunate that I haven’t had hives, but I get runny nose and eyes and start to wheeze because it’s hard to breathe. I take a Claritin pill every day and I have an inhaler, as well as emergency inhaler, if needed. I’m not getting rid of my plants and I’m fortunate that the medicine has helped me. If you’re not opposed to taking meds, I definitely recommend it and hope that you won’t get rid of your plants. That being said, I don’t have any of the spider mite attracting plants in my collection to keep that allergen free. If you ever want to talk more about any of what you’re going through, please message me - I’d love to support you and it’s nice to be able to share with someone else who understands. Grieve at your own pace. There’s no “getting over and moving on” when you have a significant loss. I still cry almost every day over Zoey because she was such a huge part of my life and it hurts so much to not have her next to me when I’m on the couch, and her breakfast routine was part of mine too so I still turn to get her bowl and then realize she’s gone and cry. It just takes time and you need to let yourself grieve. Hugs and positive vibes to you. 💜💜💜

Hi Sharon! You and I are definitely going through same heartbreaks and similar health issues. Sorry for your loss of Zoey. I know how special she was to you and I definitely understand what you are going through. As of allergies, I am on medication and it seem to help. I am not planning on getting rid of my plants, but I am planning on downsizing. I truly appreciate your love and support! ❤️

Aw Pets can be such a heart break but they also give so much love. So sorry you are going through this. I can not imagine having to give up all my plants. for sure I know I have dust allergies. The day after I volunteer at the little thrift store I am so plugged up from the dust. No matter how much I clean in there dust happens. Coming in off clothes that need to be sorted and hung and just items that need to be put out. It strts with my itchy eyes and by the end of the dy I am all choked up. It is a fun job but not sure how much longer I will be able to do it. Fascinating you can feel the mites. I can totally believe this. I do remember your saying that a long time ago. I hope you can get a handle on all of this. Self care is so important. Always should come first. Remember when your plane is going down grab your oxygen mask first. Then do what you have to do for others.

O. M. G. I’ve been watching for you, but honestly never imagined all of this was happening 😩 First of all, let me just say that I so understand losing a furramily member. The youngest kitty I’ve ever lost was 16.5 years old! It’s devastating to lose an animal. I lost my little soulmate kitty Ian in 2012. I have never gotten over his loss. I lost my Snickers in 2018, he was 19.5. Its left my home so empty and quiet. Now. I have other kitties, but wow. They’re all so awesome and I love them all so much. But I understand, sending hugs and love for your little hedgehog and kitty ❤❤ Gosh. I have a friend that’s pretty much allergic to life 😂 she has a few violets and leafy things. She does ok. But everyone is so different with allergies. I’m wishing you the best, my sweet friend! Hoping to see you back soon. Even if it’s just to say hello again and update on one plant! Love you!!! 💚💚💚

Thank you so much for understanding Catherine! It helps when you know that you are not alone. 🥰 That is why it took so long for me to finally edit and upload this video. Every time I would try as soon as I would get to Chloe, I would just cry. So sad, she was absolutely obsessed with me since I brought her home. I was definitely her human. As of plants, I will definitely make videos while I still have my jungle just maybe not as often, although I gave away some plants it barely made a dent in my collection 😂. And allergies, I’m just going to take one day at a time and see how it goes. I love you too!!!💕

Would you consider selling cuttings of your hoya snow queen (the one with really dark contrast)? Also when your ac/furnace is due for replacement, you can get one with systemic filter… have your ductwork cleaned regularly, etc
@ElenasGreenPlanet
@ElenasGreenPlanet 3 ай бұрын
I will have to. At some point in the spring, I will set up some kind of shop. I will let you know when it’s ready. Do you mean Hoya carnosa Snowball? She is my favorite but I will make some cuttings 😊. Thank you for advice! My house is pretty new, but when time comes, I will definitely look into better furnace systems. In the meantime, I can get ducts cleaned.

@@ElenasGreenPlanet yes, the carnosa snowball. And i would love to buy the hoya silver dollar too if you still have it and want to sell it. My one leaf and very rooted cutting has not grown ANYTHING in one year. It’s still alive, and there’s no mites. So i would like another plant, im just not too excited about random Etsy sellers anymore.

@Monkey-oy1us I will make some cuttings of snowball. Silver dollar have grown a long vine but not a lot of leaves yet. Not sure if it’s just a slow grower. I would have to wait until she grows some leaves to make some cuttings. I’m not in any hurry to downsize. Just one day at a time. I made bunch of cuttings of other Hoyas that I will make it available once it gets warm enough 😊.

Have you tried ginger? I hope you don't have to get rid of your plants. I'm allergic to everything but mold. We have cats and I'm super allergic to oak pollen and have been since i was a kid. I accidentally figured out fresh, organic ginger is better than any allergy medicine (I have bad reactions to most meds too). I just cut up about a table spoon a day and add to my food. I hope this helps. 💚

@@ElenasGreenPlanet It's an acquired taste for sure. Maybe try it for a couple weeks. You can cut it up very fine and eat a table spoon a day. I put it in everything. Also, I was wondering if you might be allergic to the sulfur treatments to the hoyas? Did you start getting more of a reaction recently? Sending good vibes your way. 💚
@ElenasGreenPlanet
@ElenasGreenPlanet 3 ай бұрын
I have tried to put some ginger in my salads and I didn’t mind it. I will definitely try to incorporate into more foods 😊. As of sulfur, I have not done sulfur treatment in a very long time, and my allergies started before that. It’s been a little over a year now. I also noticed that I started reacting to products at work since I work with a lot of chemicals. Yesterday at work I was perfectly fine about half a day and then I started getting hives all over my neck and my hands 🤷‍♀️. It is very hard to narrow down exactly what I react to at work since I do have a lot of clients and I do a lot of services. One thing I’ve done a while ago, I completely simplified and cleaned up my skin care and hair care at home. Trying to at least avoid all those chemicals and toxins at home. I have this app it’s called Yuka and I’ve been scanning food and products before I buy them and it’s absolutely shocking how most of the things we have in our lives are absolutely terrible for us. I am trying, and I appreciate all the tips 😊❤️.

Grief can cause all kinds of stress response too. That can happen with skin problems. Other things too: cosmetics, nail products, hair products, lotion, etc. So many things externally and also things we eat like tomatoes, etc. As Humans we have thousands of years of evolution to adjust and adapt to our leafy environments, dirt, mold and mites included. So before you dump the plants consider a second opinion and other information. After all, they want to sell you allergy services and allergy medicines, not plants. And since you have loads of plants perhaps they have a bias that your plants must be the cause of the issue. But plants also clean the air! It’s okay to reject “experts” if your common sense tells you something else. Be wary, trust your own mind, expertise and your gut.
@ElenasGreenPlanet
@ElenasGreenPlanet 3 ай бұрын
Thank you! I absolutely agree with everything you have said. I cleaned up all my skin care, make up products and hair products also my diet. The only thing I can’t really clean up is chemicals that I use at work. As of plants, I’m definitely not going to get rid of all of them, but I will downsize, and hopefully it will help. At some point I will go for a second opinion. When I originally went my doctor did not know that I have a lot of plants. They just ran bunch of tests on me and that’s what came up positive. I’m not trying to defend modern medicine. There is definitely a lot of problems with it. That’s why I’m refusing getting shots and trying to manage symptoms on my own. As of prescription, I only take it when I have a reaction. Thank you so much for caring and trying to help! ❤️

So far blooms on Hoyas don’t seem to bother me. I just try to remember not to smell them. I never thought I would say that, but luckily Hoyas don’t bloom too often. Blooms that I actually have to cut off is on my anthuriums, those send me to immediate rash.
