Thats a big story, if you used soda to neutralized aqua regia then you add smb to precipitate gold, you can't get precipitation, beçause you neutralized also hydrochloric acid or HCL, which is hcl is a very important in aqua regia, when hcl is neutralized when you add smb it doesn't create sulfur to precipitate gold, but you can use soda to precipitate gold without neutralizing aqua regia
