Man, revealing that she knew Peyton's identity was the wrong move.

That’s true however it was a desperate situation because Marlene was just looking after her best friend interest at heart because Clare has no idea what she got herself into she is has a dangerous manipulative person who is Peyton I would have done the same thing but I see your point.

Julianne Moore has an oscar and the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and she has proved herself as a good actress. I loved Juianne Moore in this and everything she does its great***** She even slapped Madonna in Body Of Evidence and everyone clapped.

My mom got me hooked on As the World Turns as a teen, and Julianne Moore (as dual role Frannie and Sabrina Hughes) was one of the best actors on the show. I loved seeing her in this role when it came out, as it got her foot in the door. Now she’s ranked by the NYT as the #11 greatest actor of the 21st century! Amazing how far she has come since this role! So much talent!!

That's impressive, most, if any, soap actors don't make it out of soap operas and must live out the rest of their career either on their original soap or hop to another. Julianne not only made it out but made it big.

In Peyton's case, she suffered from a form of PTSD... she lost her mom and probably her dad quite young, had to look after herself, then found out her husband was a sexual abuser of female patients, she lost her money due to the lawsuits, miscarried her own baby, and had emergency hysterectomy surgery. The woman was angry after all that and needed revenge. Peyton was a ticking time bomb.

As someone who has dealt with and survived PTSD (2004-2009), I resent the fact that you equate Peyton's antics to that of a PTSD person. While one symptom of PTSD is being violent, 99% of the time it NEVER escalates to the point of pure sociopath behavior (usually involves the basic punching, shoving, pushing, etc.). Making these astronomical remarks fuels negative stereotypes/generalizations and stigma associated with mental illness at a time when they are going away. She is a plain sociopath. Not PTSD, not PPD, not Bipolar, not Borderline Personality Disorder...plain sociopath.

Julianne was a nobody during this time. At this point in her career, she had been primarily a soap opera actress *(As the World Turns)* and had only been in one low-budget horror movie. The major success of *The Hand that Rocks the Cradle* was a boost to her career.

Julianne as the others on this post have said wasn't a huge A-list actress at this point in her career. The other lead roles of DeMonray and Schiorra were given to them because they were already established actresses. The irony is that Moore ended up becoming a huge star some short years later bigger than all of her castmates in this film! It's always fun to see A-list stars in minor roles before they got really famous interesting to watch.

Let me guess, the fact that the wife of a prominent doctor who killed himself was able to slip incognito into the life of one of her husband's victims as a nanny is preposterous? I mean, this movie was set in the early 90s way prior to the internet as we know it today; the only way Clair could have possibly known about Peyton actually being Mrs Mott was if she happened to be both named and pictured during the news briefing about Dr Mott being accused of sexually abusing his patients. The media wouldn't need to focus on the wife when describing Dr Mott's crimes. Also, this was probably some hum-drum ob-gyn that was rarely in the public eye until his crimes were known. Mrs Mott could have therefore been even more obscure to the point of assuming a new identity as a nanny.

@musicaltheatergeek795 жыл бұрын
Of course, it matters if the movie was successful! In Hollywood, you're only as good as your latest hit, as the saying goes. Meaning you are only judged by your most recent success. If you keep having flop after flop, then your career suffers. So, this film being a huge hit and Moore having a major role in it was very beneficial to her career. It allowed her to be where she is today. She was primarily a soap actress before this.
@blerksnarfgut27664 жыл бұрын
@@musicaltheatergeek79 this wasn't a major role for Julianne, though. She was a cardboard cutout-style sidekick to the movie's heroine and was very one-note. Sure, it got her foot in the door to being an A-list movie star (and she's grown tremendously as an actress over the years) but the role itself wasn't a great one and she didn't do anything noteworthy with it. The notoriety of the movie is what put a spotlight on her.
