How many castles are there in Wales? LOTS!
This is St Quentin’s Castle, Llanblethian near Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan, SOUTH WALES.
Another wet and windy summer’s day in Wales and a perfect day to visit another castle.
St Quentin’s Castle is managed by CADW and is free to enter.
The ruins you can see date from the 14th century and were probably built by English nobleman and military commander Gilbert de Clare. He died in 1314 at the Battle of Bannockburn.
Although the castle is relatively small it does feature an impressive twin-towered gatehouse.
You can find St Quentin’s Castle slightly off the beaten path in the quiet Vale of Glamorgan village of Llanblethian.
