Fun fact: Michael K. Williams (Omar) met Felicia Pearson (Snoop) in a Baltimore club and later, took her to the set of the Wire to meet the writers and the producers. This is how she got an audition, and subsequently the part of Snoop. I think that's a pretty cool story.

the nuclear family is a capitalist construct designed to isolate people from their extended family. without grandparents, aunties, uncles to help raise children, parents are overworked and exhausted. they rely on consumer products and services to keep their kids fed, entertained and educated. the nuclear family is a fragile concept and relies on gender roles to be strictly upheld. it doesn't work which is why communities decay, why children feel isolated, why they seek belonging in the wrong places. “it takes a village” is some of the truest words ever spoken.

719 YunGn no my whole family is in Dc, Baltimore, Philadelphia. My pops side of the family is from Baltimore and I was born in Columbia Maryland. My Grandparents lived in the sticks in Spencerville if you must no my whole pedigree. But my mother and my pops weren’t married or together because he and my uncles are all still in the game in West Bmorecareful. My mom wanted a better life so she worked during the day and went to night school to become a registered nurse now how many people that live in the Baltimore area just stay on their 4 block radius? Not nobody trying to make it out. That’s that white folks thinking that you a brother from Baltimore and a sister from DC ain’t ever gonna cross paths it wasn’t like that in the 70’s in their day that Bmore vs. DC didn’t start until the crack era. During the Black Power Movement it wasn’t like that people from the chocolate city triangle before you get south of Virginia all mingled with love for each other. Anything else you want to question about my pedigree? My momma moved us wherever the money was I even lived on the island of Barbados from 82-84. Just cus you ain’t never been to DC don’t mean every other brother has the same life story as you. Sheet in LA She had to drive an hour every morning from East LA to the WESTSIDE where the schools were better from 7th grade until I graduated and that is NORMAL ACTUALLY COMMON CUS NOTHING IF YOU REALLY WANNA GET OUT YOU GOTTA GET OUT BUT THAT DON’T MEAN SHE DIDNT SEND ME BACK EVERY DAMN SUMMER SO I COULD HAVE SOME KIND OF RELATIONSHIP WITH MY FATHER, Don’t assume like white folks do that we all have the same story cus that makes an ass out of you unless you know or knew me and my family. To which I replied "if you're a movie star, you can afford full price... but what movie you in?" "The Wire." "That's not a movie, that's a TV show."
