Words fail me. That is the most beautiful chapter house I have ever seen. The amount of stained glass in there is reminiscent of Saint Chapelle in Paris which my idea of gothic stained glass heaven. Thank you so much for another wonderful video.

The amount of glass (which is non-load-bearing) is incredible. It defies intuition how the structure can remain standing.

Get a load of this place! Wall-to-wall, exquisite design... I can only imagine the rest of York Minster. I don't blame anyone for deciding to meet here. I wish I had a space like this to quietly reflect and pray while being continually inspired... Just gorgeous. It's such a shame that all but one of the panels was lost, but I'm so grateful this place was rebuilt as beautifully (and sturdily) as it has been. So curious what the other panels were.

Wow, that's all I can manage to say, how spectacular

I'm just impressed how a "religion of love" could just represent an other faith based on the same book the way they did here. Blindfolded, broken... Religious faith back then was no joke and that's an artistic reminder.

Wait! Of all the wooden decorations that were consumed by fire, only Synagoga survived. Chance? Divine providence?

And the whispering is because…?

The audio for this video was recorded in the chapter house, part of a church where people come to pray. We try to be respectful of those people. We understand that many KZfaq videos feature loud voices, and people get used to that, but we hope that by recording onsite, we can convey what it is like to be in this church.

There is also part of a panel of St. Edmund that survives in the undercroft museum!

@@smarthistory-art-history I've read quite a bit about St. Edmund, but hadn't realized his image was used at York Minster. Thank you!
