Raleigh has changed so much...love my home but its really sad to see that the people that have lived here there entire lives are being forced out because the cost of living has gotten so out of control its unreal its like there trying to make this the "new north" I'm all for change but don't forget about the people that made Raleigh... even the outskirts of Raleigh are becoming unreal to live its really sad.. a lot of people that are moving into the area need to know this information what its doing to the people that actually "born and raised here"...the cost of 3 bedroom homes are like 400,000 now😕 I love North Carolina but we have got to do better for the people that were here

Raleigh has nice parks throughout the city,not just north Raleigh. The greenway connects the entire city and connects to surrounding towns. There's Anderson Point park in "northeast" raleigh that the river runs through as well as a kayak access point in southeast Raleigh that is quite popular. There is an entire book of parks and recreation centers that in non covid times offer an incredible array of classes for age toddler into seniors.

What I don't understand is that the entire tech industry is there and they always talk about the green new deal and the 21st century, yet public transportation is supposedly horrible there. You would think that in a region that grows as much as this one they would be more forward looking. Once you have less cars it creates a lot of space you didn't even know existed before.

@@luperamos7307 they've done studies into building a light rail system. The first proposed system excluded areas that would be included now because of gentrification and the second no came after it was found that the system could/would prove detrimental to certain structures in and around the Duke University campus area if I remember correctly. Haven't heard anything about it for years since.

Raleigh & the outskirts (Rolesville, Wake Forest, etc) Is fast becoming a gentrified small city. So many people have moved here from big cities while things were super affordable over the last few years but the job market rates didn't match. Now everything has gone up with investors buying old & rebuilding then charging outrageous prices for rental houses & new apartments. Now the housing market does not match the locals average job market rates as folks moving to the area are happy to grab a 400k home meanwhile folks born here can no longer afford to find decent housing at an affordable price... the average price of a two bed / two bath apartment is at a minimum more than $1,300 & houses are 300k & up! When a older home in the 200k range goes on the market you must be ready to buy that day or lose it. For a single person or single parent it's damn near impossible to live here anymore and It's just wrong! Gentrification is real and people around the nation wonder why the homeless are homeless. You can't live where there are no good paying jobs and who wants to work & have every dollar go to housing and food. It's not how life in these United States should be. I'm literally watching gentrification & hopelessness happen every day & there is no help for so many people. It's just not right 😕

Rolesville and wake forest isn’t really being gentrified as much as it’s just being developed rapidly. Especially rolesville. There’s basically nothing in rolesville besides subdivisions and new apartment complexes. The old wake forest area is definitely undergoing gentrification in certain areas but the majority of Wf is just a rapid over development. Places that were once woods are now apartment buildings and middle classes subdivisions
@myrahj1482
@myrahj1482 3 жыл бұрын
@@kanyewestbank9677 @jeff jefferson I respect what you're saying, being developed rapidly mostly by investors... These new developments are building apartments & houses that the current/existing residents 🙋🏽‍♀️can't afford. This is exactly what gentrification is. Gentrification has the power to displace low or lower-income families or, more often, prevent low / lower-income families or people from moving into previously affordable neighborhoods. Bringing people from more expensive states /cities with higher paying jobs who gladly buys these properties as a deal while the locals are priced out. In my opinion, when this is happening most people don't recognize it as gentrification until it's to late. That's what's happening today. I live in an older apartment building, we all work decent jobs. None of us can really comfortably afford the newer places that's offering smaller units for hundreds more per month. Homes are out of the question as the prices have doubled in recent years. It's just not right.

You’re videos are great - you do a fantastic job. That said, I just moved here from Charlotte, and Raleigh is waaaaay overpriced. You can buy a very nice 2500sqft home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 5 minutes from the beach for these median prices. I just don’t get it 🤷🏼‍♂️ However, I still feel that Charlotte is undervalued, but not for long. Prices are ticking up quickly, and have been for the past several years as they do a far better job of keeping it clean, and what type of growth they have in Charlotte.

Moved to Portland OR from South Africa 4 years ago. Hubby and I both work professional jobs (I work a pvt part time job on top of my full time job) and we still are unable to put away much savings. We pay $1800 pm for an old very small 2bdr townhouse in a middle class neighborhood! Everything is silly expensive. We were looking at making a move to Raleigh later this year with the hope of cheaper cost of living, nicer people and the heat/sunshine that we are accustomed to but now I wonder if it is just turning into another Portland. Is the housing market any better in Durham or is it very much the same?
@LivinginRaleighTV
@LivinginRaleighTV 3 жыл бұрын
With what you're paying now, you can definitely get more in Raleigh, however that is really dependent on location. $1800/month mortgage can definitely get you into a nice detached home here. The cost of housing has been going up fast over the past few years, but it's still a lot less than other areas in the country. Durham is similar to Raleigh, some areas are more expensive some are less. You'll definitely find a lot of nice people here and plenty of sunshine. Do you have thoughts on k-12 schooling and areas in relation to housing? We want a minimum of .25 acres. Land is a big reason we want out of texas believe it or not

Because we are realtors, due to fair housing laws, we can't provide information about schools. However, you can find a lot of information about schools on GreatSchools.org and niche.com where you can find millions of independent reviews and government data. You can still get a decent sized lot here (.25 acres+), especially in the surrounding suburbs of Raleigh, depending on what type of home you're looking for, budget, and location. If you want to send us an email to info@themortongroup.com we are happy to provide more info! Thanks so much for watching!

Try checking out review websites like niche.com, look up data on the local government websites, also try joining local FB groups and ask around online to figure out what areas you think will be a good fit. Unfortunately we are not able to give info or advice about safety or specific areas due to fair housing laws because we offer our real estate services through our channel. @LivinginRaleighTV

For schools look at websites like greatschools.org. As far as acreage... it entirely depends on your budget. Generally to get 5+ acres you are needing to look at the outskirts of the Triangle. Areas within 30-45 min or Raleigh are Zebulon, Wendell, Clayton, Garner, Fuquay, Angier, Holly Springs, Pittsboro. You can also find lots that large in the South part of Raleigh and the North part of Durham/Hillsborough.
