I started this channel in January of 2021 to share my knowledge of selling digital downloads on Etsy, or any other platform, as well as my experience with Print on demand. I do my best to bring you the most relevant content about selling print on demand and printables, creating interesting print on demand designs, testing myself print on demand products and their quality, as well as provide you with marketing tutorials, and so much more! I recommend many services and websites in my videos, some may contain affiliate links- which means that you can have a discounted price, or the same price, while I earn a bit of a commission for the referral- to help support this channel and the costs of producing the videos.

Payhip is also one of my favorites. While this is a rather earlier video in the channel, as of these days I plan on having Payhip as my main point to sell digital items, and have them appear on my site, they truly have an awesome tool. Just don't forget to calculate in Paypal fees !

Hi Mey, thanks for your videos, I am hooked. I love the way you go through the process of creating your pieces, it's unique, I don't see this with others KZfaqrs. I will definitely look into payhip. What about ebay? I am working full time and trying to do something that I love as second income stream. How many shops do you think we should upload our merch.

Mey! I seriously love you and your content! I agree, religions can be weird but really I enjoyed hearing more about your faith and special day. I find the Jewish feasts/festivals very interesting. Totally interested in Wordpress/Payhip integration video as well as more on creative fabrica! I also like the idea of blog ideas to help market items. Hmmmm I am not sure if you can integrate them automatically, like with an Embed code. I am not selling on Amazon, but I searched the page of a book and I can't find an embed. What you can do is manually - with elementor, create a "space" that has a photo from the left, and a title & text from the right The photo will be the cover of the book - the image of it The title- the title of the book, and the text to describe it. make sure the photo is clickable to the link fo the book on Amazon, and the text should also include a link within it, as well as the title of the book's name.

Then I started to see many printable shops were stolen 😕 with no protection from etsy. I was just wondering can you be fully protected from this kind of problem with your own printable website? I cant even make my shop on etsy! So many annoying little things.. I'm stuck on Set Up Billing. I might as well consider other shops if it's like this. Thank you for posting and taking the time to make this video!

@@gboyd1184Hey! I actually did find a solution. I don't know if this will work on your existing account. I just decided to use a different account, one I had already used to make purchases. Since I already had a record of purchase on the site and I have my card details saved on that personal account (as a customer and not a seller), when I made a store, Etsy instantly recognized my card! It was smooth sailing after that. Another tip is, when you put your bank's swift code remove the XXX if it has that. Make sure all your details are correct too. Hope it works for you ^^

Most of the options you covered are basically some version of "have your own website" (except for creative fabrica). Is that your main opinion for alternatives to Etsy? I'd love to see a review of all the alternative marketplaces eg creative market, creative fabrica and other places that can drive traffic for you.

Exactly! That's the issue here. I really appreciate Mey making this video but when she showed the first option being 'Shopify' I was disappointed. Most of us who read the title of this video and decided to click on it was because we are looking for a legit alternative to Etsy. This is the hard part though. I already jumped on the whole Shopify thing like 4 years ago and my attempt for an online business flopped big time. See, the whole thing about a Marketplace is that they charge so much because they have all the leverage. In this digital world what we require is traffic. That's why Amazon charges so much and do whatever they want with their policies, terms and conditions. You can invest time and money on your Website, products and ads and still only a handful of visitors would take a look at your website on a good day. I don't want to go for Redbubble because they're just another print on demand platform and I already did that with Shopify and Printful. Now, I just want less hassle. I just want to sell digital products. I'll keep on searching for an alternative to Etsy just in case.

@@atwajesper9434 I'm a developer with a decent background that gives me the ability to finish my own website in 2 or 3 months while enjoying the process, no hardworking. I'm also familiar with search engines and SEO and what's the best chunk of code for that website, since it's not a blog it just needs to be bot friendly, responsive, and up to date. Then the payment comes in, I could make my own but I also should be always looking at my backend and constantly doing pen-testing tests, and the hosting will need a server, a decent one for better performances, but both of those can be achieved with third parties, paying like 30$ max a month if it wasn't a year (last time I checked hosting was 1.99$ monthly subscription). If you don't have programming experience and attempted to hire from Fiver, you could actually get scammed and end up with a website that is not optimized, nor responsive, and doesn't follow up to the latest requirements. For your case I think you should take a look at shopify alternatives like wix, but be sure that the least price you pay the ost work you have to do for yourself, unless you have programming knowledge and your own website as I said.

They have this crazy bug they've had it for years- one of my shops was closed for violating copyrights- that store had 0 items on it, and was closed after 2 hours of opening it. Customer service told me there's nothing I can do when I break the rules, I told them the shop was empty, they said they are confused. 2 days after the shop was back. This is the price of working on someone else's platform- it can all go away in a minute. Have you found any of the other options in the video interesting for you ?

I listed 1 product and my shop was suspended. They never sent an email explaining why. When someone finally reached out they asked for some personal information and I'm still waiting for my shop to reopen. I like some of these other platforms but I guess I'm concerned about how to market off of etsy.

@@Reina609 Yeah, sounds like the bug I know exists... It's been on for years now. At the end of the day- it's their platform and they can do what they want with it... That's why I am more focused on creating my own platforms for selling stuff, that's why i moved everything I was selling on Etsy (graphics) to my Payhip shop.

I am not perfect at it yet- but it helps to organize your digital life- in an analog manner :) An agenda journal, dates & such, and a separate journal for each business aspect. Like, a notebook journal just for POD, one for KZfaq, etc.

Hi Mey. Great content as usual. I’m looking at maybe offering the same products as both downloadable printables (either pdf or svg for crafters) as well as the physical product/PODversion. Ammm I don't. Never used that platform, as I was never a teacher (well, shortly, and a long time ago). I think every platform is essentially the same: 1. create a GOOD product 2. Make good product photos, mockups 3. be clear as to what people get when they buy this item 4. MARKET !!

Do we have to pay payhip or does the commission fee mean that, when we sell a product, payhip will take a certain percentage of the money paid by the buyer

Payhip take 5% and because it's London based they will make people pay VAT on your products which is at least 20% So your products will need to be priced accordingly!!!!

Well, I am not sure about an updated version... However, I have been selling for almost 2 years on payhip the digital download graphic bundles I have... Meytribe.com is Payhip. I think that when it comes to a platform- you always need to put the emphasis on marketing. On marketplaces - you doing your own marketing would get your items actually trend better on the platform's search On CF when marketing yourself you can do so with an affiliate link- earning affiliate commission on top of sales revenue. And when it comes to your own shops- marketing is a must obviously.

How many products do you recommend having on a new store - I opened a teachers pay teachers account and an Etsy shop with bilingual children's learning materials. I'm getting views but so far no sales and would love some tips

That really depends on the types of products. I mean, if you make single pages or if you make full workbooks, that would be a different number to include. I know people who have shops with 2000 products, and people with 2. It really depends on what is in the products. Views but no sales can be a result of higher prices than what people want to pay, lack of reviews (that get them to drift to a different seller), or even that they don't fully understand what they are getting... (in that case- maybe you need to invest more time in better descriptions and mockups). Have you submitted your shop for review ? Maybe I can help that way :)

Can I sell my digital designs on both platforms at the same time? So on Etsy and on creative fabrica. Or could this lead to problems with Etsy?

Technically- you can sell them anywhere you want, as they are yours.... and I have seen people sell on both CF and Etsy, or even Etsy and Shopify. I do know that some people said online that they were kicked out of Etsy when their other shops became successful, but that never happened to me to be talking from personal experience. I always suggest utilizing as many platforms as you can, just to maximize your earnings, but make sure that on Etsy itself you don't mention selling on CF.

Marketing a Payhip shop would be the same as any shop: A Facebook page, Instagram page, Pinterest... But also- Payhip gives you the chance to have your own domain, operate a blog- that can help you with getting traffic from Google. Or- opening up a website of your own and embed payhip checkout options... With digital products I would also say marketing using freebies is a great way... Payhip is a shop builder, not a marketplace. You need to drive in your own traffic. (which is, BTW, also the case for most marketplaces LOL)

Technically? yes. But, I have heard people saying that their Etsy shop was closed when they had a shop on Shopify, so i can't advise you either way.

If you write stock 0 that means the item is out of stock and no one can order it. If you can't see an option for stock being endless- just write a high number, like 500.

Payhip commission numbers: If you sell less than ~$1000, go with the no monthly fee Up to about $2000, go middle tier Above $2000, is top tier

Well, if you sell 2,100 USD that's a fee of 29+ 2% on middle tier : 71 On the top tier - 99. So the breaking number for it to be worth it is a bit higher than 2K..

She rambles on until 4:21 where the list starts. Also the list is for software and not so much "sites" to sell on. People will need to be a bit tech savy and then bring their own traffic, not really an "alternative" to Etsy, but some decent, all be it not simple, ideas.

Not sure why you'd comment to me using the word "she".... People also need to bring in their traffic to their Etsy shop to sell there successfully... I think it's why most Etsy shops never sell anything- as they expect Etsy to do all the work for them when it doesn't.

Etsy isn't good place don't waised your time! full of shops! and people just trust on old stores! for 3 months ! no SELL at all!! and product prices very cheap!

I think the same about Etsy not being the BEST place (hence that video) However, even if you open your own shop on your own website you still have the entire internet to compete with. What seemed best for me, and always worked best whenever I was selling something online or even doing affiliate marketing- was to just ignore "competition" and do my own marketing. and in that case- your own website would be so much more valuable than on Etsy- as you actually have your client's info, newsletter list, etc. Regarding the pricing- I have noticed that a lot of people actually "avoid" the cheap stuff as they think that cheap means less quality. Have you tried selling on your own shop? like with Payhip or shopify? There's also the new hostinger builder that has digital download options... I am mentioning this a bit in tomorrow's- coming back to KZfaq video.

Unfortunately, Hostinger does not provide live chat support and only offers email assistance. I sent them an inquiry email two months ago, and to this day, I have yet to receive a response. As a result, it is evident that their customer support is not satisfactory
