Creating an initial investor pitch can be a challenge.
You have all that information in your head that you need to summarize and structure in a way that gets investors excited about the opportunity you present.
So where do you start?
It’s tempting to head to Google and search for “Pitch Deck Template”. You get 16 million results leading you to some really great templates. Many of them are beautifully designed and well structured. But that's not what I recommend as a starting point to create your investor pitch, simply because templates limit creativity -- by default.
In this video, I recommend to start with the questions on an investor's mind instead:
- What do you do? And why?
- For whom do you do it?
- How does it work?
- What makes it unique?
- What evidence do you have?
- What makes you uniquely qualified?
- What do you need?
Answer each of these questions in a most casual way, like talking with someone at a dinner party.
Once you have the answers to these questions, you can then use a template and map your answers to the individual sections in the deck and you will end up with a more deeply resonating message than if you'd started with the template. I promise.
