Welcome to the second video with RS4 B7 .
In the first video I carried out diagnostic and short test drive to confirm the faults . After I lift the car on the ramp a had a bad feeling about the condition but mainly the car was here for engine work . So engine was removed from the chassis and this is what I found !
Thanks you for watching

Interesting that there was no timing chain guide issues on this car. Yet another reason to keep up on those oil changes. Can't stress enough how important this is. Great level of detail and another top notch video.

Looks like this engine was ready for a refresh. The manufacturer would label all this as fair wear and tear. Great video, thank you.

This is very interesting for me b/c I also have a B7 RS4, currently at 145K miles. It's been well maintained, but I have an oil leak coming from 1 of the timing chain covers, which leaks oil onto the exhaust manifold causing smoke to billow from the hood. Obviously at the age/mileage I need to do the timing chain, but I kind of want to do everything while the engine is out.

You should take the engine out, change all the tensioners and chains. new clutch, flywheel and so on :) Just change everything u can afford when its out of the engine bay.

Deck heads, replace valve springs, seats and seals. Maybe even the valves... how much faith do people put in the original hardware from the factory after all the heat and cold cycles they endure... then have a guessing game when they have catastrophic failure..

It’s always difficult as an owner to decide the stop point when maintaining a performance car like the B7 , personally given the colour and spec I’d do both sub frames and all bushes after the engine , paint correction then stick it away for 5-10 years and drive it dry weekends only , great work as always 👍

It's expensive to overhaul a modern high-performance automobile. Very few people do it. It will be nice to have this car refitted and ready for it's second life. It will make for a nice cars and coffee story.

B7 RS4 needs saving and whatever work needs doing the owner will probably agree. The guides being worn so little is a testament to regular oil changes.

Yes, the earlier B7 RS4's have what's known as a baffled oil pan to help with preventing of oil starvation at high g-forces.

Found this really interesting, if I’m honest I’m surprised there is issues at such low mileage especially on a V8, but I’m comparing it to say the 2UR-GSE 5.0 V8 with 417bhp in the Lexus ISF which go 250k and still dyno full power without any issues besides wear and tear stuff such as Brake discs/pads etc. I suppose if you like the way the car drives you pay the big bills….to you guys 😉

that toyota motor is excellent, however this engine made very notable power at it's time of release with only 4.2 liters of displacement it also revs quite a bit higher than the toyota. when you put it into perspective it makes sense why the rs4 engine would wear quicker

Great commentary on the tear down. Oil change is by far the cheapest maintenance option, so I'd be doing these every 6 months regardless. Even though most of that engine is in good condition it would always feel like a wasted opportunity not replacing the wear and tear...ooops! Sorry, tear and wear items. After all, it's basically a new engine when you replace them all, albeit it is costlty for these beasts. I mean, what's a million pounds nowadays😂. Keep up the great content boys.. #WhereIsMiraslav?😂

Super interesting stuff man. 👍 The cylinders look pretty good. But I'm not there. What about the pistons getting updated with aftermarket? Are there updated or better ones? I have bronze valve guides on my V8 intake and exhaust. The guide itself is pretty thick and sturdy. In my estimation this engine saw lots high RPM revving and the oil was too thin. The pistons did ok but valves were affected. I think the intervals were long but not terrible. I ❤your videos, music and lights and all. Please keep doing what you are doing for those Audi-lovers. Many things we love are not easy always. Thats life. Owners need to do their own changes using great oil and a Fumoto drain valve ..:or have you do changes for them

Once again a great video and great content. Impressive that after 100k miles the only main issues are in the heads/valves. I suppose this can be concidered as "expected" after this mileage on the RS4, or is it unusual to have occurred? Will it be a relatively cheap engine fix/refurb? Keep up the great work and content please.

Nice to see the engine and your commentary on its condition. For the piston rings, is that something where you'd put the piston itself in an ultrasonic cleaner to get the rings all cleaned up? Is it worth taking the rings out in case there's a fragile one that you find needing replacement?
