I just got an upgrade for Christmas for my Insta360. Again after watching your videos my wife purchased the 360 One X as a gift for me knowing that I loved my Insta360 One. Went with the Go Pro Fusion. I know there are better ones for less but I really like the fact that it’s waterproof. Come summer I want to use it on my kayak and the 5 meter depth gives me a little peace of mind if it goes in the drink.

I got a GoPro fusion a few days, took it with me to Japan and started using it yesterday. Never had a 360 camera before, wanted the fusion since it dropped and the price dropped in America so I picked up a few. So far it's been fun experimenting with it and I've been watching your videos the past few days to learn more. My laptop is 4k, has good specs and I updated my custom PC so when I get back home I don't think I'll have too much trouble editing.

Thanks for the video Ben! I own a fusion and always found it took me ages to create even short videos using Premiere on my core i7 laptop. I got the Insta360 One X a few weeks ago and have to agree with your comments. The One X is 100 times better because of the workload. I do feel like the insta is a bit less rugged, and I worry more about it being damaged than with the fusion, but otherwise it’s the complete package. It’s the only 360 camera I’d consider right now. Cheers!

Thank you for doing these reviews to help us pick a camera that would work out for us. But question... I'm wanting a 360 camera for my motorcycle, more so I can see some of the views I miss when I'm riding. But wanted to get your input between the Samsung 360 (2017) and the 360 Fly HD.? I can get a Samsung for $75 and and Fly for about $45 to $50. Which do u thing is better. I dont want to spend a lot due to risk of damage and possible theft if I forget to remove..... thank you in advance for your input.

I was going to buy the 360 X, but due to holiday budget and low PC specs I picked up the Kandao Qoocam instead. I have to work on my photography skills now but it's a ton of fun. The 180 3D was great for recording family Christmas parties. I checked them out in my VR headset and it was like I was transported back. I'll be looking into something for spatial audio next. It's a really great camera and updates on their Facebook page frequently. This generation of cameras makes me excited for the next gen. Time to upgrade my PC in preparation.

My Insta360 ONE X works great on my iPhone 7 Plus though a bit slow but works very well. I would totally recommend this camera to people with a slightly older phone (but not iPhone 6 Plus and below)

I want to attach a 360 cam to my helmet and or motorcycle and I think I want to edit with Devici resolve. So I need something pretty small, does fast action and has enough fps that I can slow it down sometimes, image stabilization, replaceable battery or a long battery life and footage that is relatively easy to edit. What should I get? I plan on building or buying a pretty powerful PC. Oh and works good on windows. I have never owned a apple device but I would consider it if it was cost effective.

You had me sold on the Theta V last year, but I haven't managed to save for it yet. A 360 camera is on my to buy list. Hopefully 2019 is the year! Now I'm glad to hear about the one x and that this insta360 is compatible with android. @@BenClaremont I saw your video and bought One X. I love the camera but the battery life is terrible, it lasts only 8-10 minutes. Maybe because i am in Canada and temperature has an effect on battery but it shouldn't be so bad. With this battery life it's totally useless here in Canada.

@@@RavishVlogs, I have the same issue and just back from the freezing cold of Quebec City (-10 to - 18degC with wind). I had to use a 5000mA power bank which I tie down on the selfie stick at the bottom end where the 1/4" female thread hole reside. I use a clamp to hold the small power bank and 1/4" double sided male screw. Then I can use video clips up to the max limit of 30min and then restart again.

Nomad 24 this camera is useless in Canada. Support just replied that it is not designed for cold weather. Today i used it in 3 degrees. Still the same results. It's practically a paper weight at this time.

The one thing the rylo has over the one x is the form factor. I simply cant have the one x mounted on my head when skydiving. Simply getting in and out of the airplane without hitting it or having the risers and slider hit it when under parachute are just not options. The rylo was the only one that could be mounted in a low profile for skydiving.

I totaly agree. I think the rylo is much more an action camera. The other 360 camera shapes are not practical to fit on a helmet or anywhere where we usually put a gopro.

Was thinking the same thing about the form factor. I’ll be using one helmet mounted for cycling as well and the Rylo form factor is much better for that and most active lifestyle shots. Would be awesome to compare ones with low profiles for an “action” 360 cam recommendation. Thanks for the great video! I’d love to see the Garmin VIRB 360 too. ;-)

I agree and disagree about the form factor. I think you are right Insta360 One X is not very low profile. But what I like about it is that because of its form factor, the lenses are much further away from the mount so in some case the shots look better. I wear Insta360 One X on my wrist when skydiving and I get amazing shots with it and my hand doesn't look all weird because of the distance of the lenses and stitching.

Hey- I’d suggest a minimum of 8GB ram and 2GB graphics card.. ideally double that or more 👍

I own the Insta360 One X and have not had any significant problems with it. Following the comments on the Facebook pages, I'd say the biggest complaint with the camera is the reduced battery life in cold weather. Some people have been reporting as little as 5 minutes recording time in temperature extremes. I'll be testing mine out at Yellowstone in a couple of weeks. Fortunately, there are work-arounds for the reduced battery life. As an Android and Windows user, I'm hoping the software/firmware development teams get busy with releasing some usable/reliable code. Editing the 5.7K video is a chore requiring multiple steps and taking quite a bit of time. I hope your prediction about a new Theta is accurate; the Insta360 One X needs some serious competition.

Hi Michael, I wouldn’t suggest a 3D camera but 360 is a good alternative to a GoPro.. One X will give you new angles that a GoPro wouldn’t get you. Good luck!

@@BenClaremont You were the first person I thought of to ask a question about 360 cameras. I need a 360 camera to capture conditions inside different facilities for work. Some are low lighted areas. Video is the most useful method for me to do this. I grabbed a samsung gear about 2 years ago. It does ok, but I found the video in low lighted areas to be unusable sometimes. What camera would you recommend for getting the most detail/best quality from a video shot in a low lighted space? I'd like to keep it under $500 if possible.

Ben Claremont yes i have a V30. I just got a reply from support they say that it's the issue with battery. It's not designed for cold temperatures. So for now I have to weight for special battery that they are going to design in future.

Thanks for your thoughts Ben. I have the Misphere and the Qoocam. I use the Misphere for photos because of the 24 megapixel resolution and the Qoocam for video for the stabilisation, stitching, fairly good workflow and the VR180 feature. That said, the 5.7K resolution of the insta 360 one x has me looking at it seriously, as the 4K of my other cameras doesn’t really cut it for over capture when producing an HD video. They’re great for ‘B Roll’ little planet type videos but I can tell from recent experience the extra resolution is needed to reduce swapping to a regular video camera for the money shot. The 5.7K resolution in the insta360 camera would for me produce the unique attention grabbing little planet type perspective as well as the high quality over capture 16.9 footage. Definitely the future of video capture going forward - just capture everything, keep your options open and sort it out later in post - seems like a no-brainer to me.

Sounds like the Vuze XR at 5.7K with VR180 & 360 would be the solution here since you like the Qoocam's versatility but want the Onex 5.7K resolution.

Honestly I wouldn’t bother if you’re not using it already.. it’s fun for social media content but in 2019 it doesn’t have much other use (in a way that’s different to a phone or a GoPro)

Do any of these handle the stitching on the camera it self? My phone is an Android with a bit slow CPU and not much RAM I doubt my phone could handle the stitching. I'm extremely interested in the qoocam and the other 180 3d/360 hybrid camera.

Yeah a few of them but still your phone will need to be of the last 3-4 years to deal with most of these cams

I use the 360 camera that comes with essential phone. Got the phone and the camera for 400$ a year back. It's decent quality and the stock camera app has some good stitching features. but keeps crashing the phone if the battery is low.

I recently bought a VUZE XR. Think it has a lot of potential, but it's at the start of its development curve a bit like the Quocam. Taking still images, I found the Xiaomi sphere 360 had the edge in quality, but for video / audio quality it is quite a noticeable upgrade. The stitching is pretty good (fast) and the computer application seems to work well (even on a fairly low specc'ed laptop). Things of note however is there are currently no manual app controls for stuff like EV, ISO or shutter speed. It's all auto presently. Hopefully firmware updates will change this soon.

Hey Bud, Great video, very informative. question: can the Insta 360 one X live stream to FB? I asked the Vendor but their support is horrible, not real answers. Also, have you or anyone you know used it with Android (Samsung G8) Thanks

Love your channel. I teach high school and run our social media. I'm starting to think that one could achieve pretty much everything with the insta x and the osmo Pocket. I'm gonna try to get the insta crowd funded because it seems like along with the osmo, you could do professional quality stuff. Have you tried the Osmo??

Hi! So my boss told me that we're going to use a 360 camera for car interior photography as soon as we can and told me to look up one and i find this video helpful but honestly i'm quite lost in what to get. Any tips on what camera would be best at that sort of thing? Any help would be much appreciated.

Same things apply- it depends on your budget but I think the One X would do a good job

I have the insta360 One X I find it is everything you say it is. Thanks for your insight. One thing however that you love and I have trouble with is the on phone app editing. I wish there was a computer version to take it to the bigger screen of the computer so my old eyes could see what I'm doing a bit better... Also seems that the folks who make the Insta360 are very good at responding to support request, but very slow at getting the accessories to market. like a remote (maybe a GPS Remote), battery, charger station.

Thanks for your review. Is the Insta360 OneX still your choice in low light? I shoot homes indoors and thinking it may be time to upgrade my Ricoh Theta SC. I would prefer something sharper.

Hey Ben! I know the 360 life is PRIMARILY for outdoor activities, Buuuut... I love to shoot live basketball games in 360 because of cool effects AND I don't have to worry about where the camera is pointed while filming. Any suggestions for indoor use? I agree about the Full ,but it's size is the only competition and the follow me option while editing... Thoughts?

If your budget is $500 I’d say the One X.. if you have significantly more it would be worth hiring a professional DSLR 360 photographer to get much higher resolution yet again 👍

Wanted to buy the Fusion because it looked easier to switch on & record, position somewhere easier with the wider base so it can just sit there and record, and overcapture function on the iPhone/iPad. But the One X looks just as good but looks like it needs the stick/tripod to sit on ? Great video btw :-)

I got the Rylo 360 camera two months ago for just $299 USD including sports case, external dual battery charger, Invisible selfie stick. Which I think it's not bad at all. I was planning on getting the Insta 360 One X instead, but if both are basically the same, why spend more money? Am I right? ( I still want the Insta360OneX just to compare them myself). Cheers!

Hi Ben, as usual a very interesting video. But... I am a Mijia Misphere owner and I would also be interested in what apps for my camera would be usable. For example it would be great if I could use the onX app for my videos. Or maybe there are other apps to edit my videos. Maybe you have some tips for me which apps (apps from other cameras too) I can use, or how I have to edit my videos to use these apps (rename or convert). Just a thought...if you insert a gopro fusion clip into insta360 do you think it will be editable (i don't know if the files are compatible if course ! That's why i am giving a shot!) . If they're it would solve a great problem with the time gopro requires.... Again... it's just an idea...keep up with your good videos! Greetings from Greece!!!

Great video. I have been using the fusion, but recently got the ONEX. My one complaint is that it’s hard to read the LCD in the sunlight. I usually have to squint to tell if it’s on. I also got a lot more battery life from the fusion. But since the one X is so much easier to carry in your pocket and has a mobile workflow it’s my go to 360 camera.

@Ben I had the one x mounted on a Helmet. The Fusion has one button to press and I knew I was recording. Is there an equivalent button on the One X so I don’t have to take the helmet off turn on the camera, change to video mode and then hit start?

Ben, I want to create 360 VR content using just the camera no interested on create video/audio. It seems the latest cameras has improve in the video. For instance, Instant360 One X, it seems to be better that previous models but no sure is that is true for just the camera (static 360 photos)? I also heard that I should look for Stereoscopic camera that will give 3D effect for VR but I am not sure since I see example of Yi 360 that look amazing without Stereoscopic feature. At the end, I am not sure what camera to choose that will give me nice result as matterport 3d camera? also will be great if the camera has a great API SDK for developers.

Go the One X for fast photo workflow- 3D hasn’t taken off yet so I would wait on that one.

Hi Ben, I was wondering witch One X files you keep … when shooting RAW, it also saves a JPG, witch I use for quick edits and share, and I edit the RAWs on the desktop App. So I feel I don’t need to keep the INSP files, right ?! Or is there a reason for you to keep both formats ?! Thanks

No not possible.. you’d have to bring it into Premiere or Insta360 Studio (for 4k)

hey ben! been following for a while. i had the insta 360 one and it gave me diffrenet colors on each lens. one lens gave me brighter blue and one lens gave me one a little more orange. do you find any of that with the one X ?? very interested in trading up

I love the video and I have the gear 360, Rylo, One X and Fusion. I still use my fusion because the quality still wins against the others. I truthfully haven't touched my Rylo or Gear 360 since getting the fusion and One X. I just got dive cases for both the fusion and One X and I am looking forward to seeing the footage afterwards. Hey- I don’t have any videos like that but you will want to practice some more as picture quality is the same for all of us.. it’s all about learning the best lighting, exposure and composition techniques (much of which you can find on my channel)

Hi, I am following the 360 development for some time now and I am wondering if you can provide a video to your workflow and what a newcomer like me needs to get started with I.e. a Insta 360 one x besides the camera itself. I mean how many cards, batteries do one need. What about the relation between frame rate and shutter? 😅 I can't see a nd filter for that kind of camera 😱 I would really appreciate an answer. I had the newer Samsung 360 and it was cool, but picture quality wasn't the best. It was potato. The Go Pro Fusion quality is miles better and I had more fun with it, but sometimes the app for the Mac crashes. I have two videos of car meets and the videos are filmed with the two cameras. The difference between the two is obvious. I can't talk about the other Cameras, but the One X seems very promising. LOL Garmin Adjective..

Love you vids! Im a noob to vr recording but have several VR headsets and I am an avid VR nerd. Im going to be shooting just mostly V video on my dune buggy, so image stabilization is a must. Im a nerd for resolution so which 360 camera would you recommend. Ill be using my PC for editing, thanks!

Strange, I looked up "YI VR 360" in a Swedish store that sell MI-products and they sell it for 4950 Sek, that is more than the "Insta 306 One X", same with "Gear 360 2017" that have very high price compared with what is mentioned in this video, they sell for around 100 to 200 USD, are we ripped of in Sweden? I am a bit afraid getting things from Amazon for it is hard to see if it is used or new products and how it is with buyers protection and refunds, can you give any advice for us Europeans that want to get things from Amazon or other online stores?

Hi Jim, yes amazon will usually be the cheapest option and is actually very trustworthy and they tell you everything before you buy. If prices are that high in Sweden I’d suggest buying the One X 👍
