Why wouldn't you be free to go to the beach elsewhere in Africa? I am just curious because I haven't been to Africa yet but am planning my first trip so I am trying to understand. I live in the US so there are placed here where you will get stared at just for being black.

@@ewm4266 actually for us, we are share almost everything in common: religion, culture etc. It's like one country split by the former colonialists... But politically, their government and ours are usually not very friendly, except of recent. But that's mainly because they seem to undermine our sovereignty, probably because of our small size and population.

Oh that's amazing. We were so close to going to Guinea Bissau on our last trip to the Gambia. Because it's so close. Surprisingly, there are no flights between Gambia and Bissau. And the road trip would be extremely long. But we want to visit in the future. Like fly directly into Bissau. Can you suggest other cities we must see?

I’m not in my country now but I suggest you visit Bissau is our capital and do remember we speak Portuguese not inglês. After the capital we do have beautiful islands for example Bubaque island, Rubane island, Orango island... the islands are your best bet for an enjoyable trip. ..peaceful and wil bring you closer to nature 🌳 if you are into that sort of thing. These kids have probably not been beyond the Gambian borders. So their opinions about other countries probably come from what they hear or see from the media. "Blood Diamond" for example, is a popular movie here and lots of other stories about the civil war that took place in Sierra Leone which makes others believe that Sierra Leone is still a quagmire... That's why we need more media groups like this one, that will spread the positive image of Africa. This will help clear some of the misconceptions other people have about other African countries.

Originally from Zambia, and love all of Africa. But I have some rather stern reservations about South Africa. This comes largely from stories about mistreatment of Zambian, Zimbabwean and Mozambican immigrants in that country. That infuriated me. We were the frontline states, and we suffered immensely for years from RSA retaliations during the apartheid era. We put our lives, lands and wealth at stake for your liberation, and paid dearly for it. So it feels a bit like ingratitude and betrayal to hear of these unhappy stories periodically now. Is this how you keep your brothers? I don't dislike South Africa, but perhaps love it less than I could.
