I like PoE, but Past Epoch is more my speed because the crafting is accessible.

About the 2 characters thing and starter builds being so limited, I play 30-40h a week when I'm into it and I still don't make a second character. I just really dislike leveling the campaign and don't want to do it again. I'm sure there's a lot of people like me who really just don't feel like doing the campaign again . I don't think it's only casual vs non-casual. It's also just the campaign being a chore.

The thing I have loved about arpgs is that I can play them all. I played last epoch, d4 season 4, now I’m taking a break after playing 50 hours in 2 weeks (a lot for me) and now I’m finally playing PoE’s new league and vibing with it. Arpgs are in a really good spot. I say just play them all for as long as you’re not bored

Play all aRPGs, for as much as you want. Don't get burned out. All of them are great. Hop on to every season and be happy. It's not war. This is NOT conservatives vs liberals.

20 hours a week being casual is absolutely insane lmfao I would say casual sits around 7 hours a week on average 5-10 hours weekly seems to be the casual gamer amount give or take

D4 is good now. It’s still as deep as a mud puddle but as far as just killing monsters it’s pretty fun. Necropolis league was the exact opposite of fun.

Play Project d2 hc, put aside the drama between mods. The community is great.

With S4 I am going to go with D4 simply because you can skip the campaign. Makes it the best pick-up and play game and is therefore the one I stick to the most. Especially playing Hardcore where in those other games you'll have to slog through the story each time you die.

This is *exactly* the issue D4 had imo; they tried too hard to please EVERYONE; D2 Vets, D3 fans, PoE players etc. Now that Blizzard have realised their niche was a more casual playerbase from D3, D4 is actually moving in a VERY good direction, and that's great! The ARPG space is so good right now - PoE *needed* competitors imo. I *still* think each live service ARPG has its issues (PoE is far too overly complex to the point that is hurts itself, Last Epoch still has zero content and is stuck in this archaic "old style" arpg mindset for a lot of things, and D4 needs to overhaul its skill systems and remove more of the needless flexibility barriers), but the genre as a whole has been progressing, and each game has things its good at (PoE - Content, Last Epoch - Build creation, D4 - Power fantasy and engaging progression). And with every game bouncing off each other and learning from each other (Both what to do and what NOT to do), the genre can only really get better and better!

Normal Duriel is too easy. uber Duriel is hard. IMO gap should be smaller in between two. Or introduce like one more version, level 150, but still with debuff mechanics of 200 version.

PoE complexity mainly comes from just how much has been added each year for the last 10 years, that's a lot of systems. It's more about how much time you can spend to play, rather than being for "hardcore" players. i.e if you have a proper job good luck with that. Last Epoch could quite easily suffer the same fate as PoE, but at least we'll have a few years before it ends up too cluttered.

"you should never be able to 1 shot bosses" is such a bad take. you're literally talking about ARPGs here. so much talk going around about "maintaining challenging content" even into the late game lately. but one of the core tenets of ARPG design is that you literally are SUPPOSED to be able to outgear content. it's literally the goal with an ARPG. further and further challenges is fine, but there should never be a boss that you can't outgear to trivialize in an ARPG. it's an ARPG, power scaling to absurd levels of godhood is part of it. if people want challenging technical fights, Souls-like games are over there.

It makes me cry a little inside to know D4 is an entry to ARPGs. 😭

If you have a job and family you can only play a few hours on weekdays at most, lets say 2h / weekday. Then during the weekend you can probably squeeze in a few more. So yeah 20h a week is still fairly casual when it comes to "raw amount of hours". Then again, if you play a game like PoE you can theorycraft during your lunch break or even during work to some extent so you might have your head in the game for longer, making those playable hours more efficient.

No took a few failed builds in poe then a ton of research then a ton of build guides then following a guide then watching about 30 hrs of crafting videos then map guides and atlas guide to understand what im looking at then bossing guides ( this one isn't really bad you really can figure them out quite easy so it's a toss up for me ) then endgame atlas and map juicing guides (every single league THAT IS POE I find poe is a much better game yes but here's diablos research needed Play the game and kill shit look up a build if you want but not really needed and look up how to get mats for bosses . Most of these really aren't needed like poe

I like playing all games, especially each flavor of ARPG. For me personally, D4 was just a bit bland and annoying for the $70 price tag when POE and Last Epoch are free and imo more fun because of the sheer number of possibilities. They didn't make it simple to make it more generally appealing, they made it simple because that was the minimum required effort needed to milk the fanbase. It's just a fancy looking D3 without any of the cool stuff they added in the LAST season or two or any of the previous games for that matter. I mean Diablo isn't even in the game. Where are the runes? Where is the cow level? Where is the love? lol

If only d4 has cheap prize or f2p. This would be better

Until 21th of May, there was a D4 Discount (50%) and I wanted to test it out before buy it and thougth the discount will last till midnight, but at 22:00 (10:00 pm) the price went back to 70€, so I haven't bought it. Nice Job Blizzard.

The thing we know for sure is Diablo IV is a bad game considering its their 4th game in the series and they still make beginner mistakes and we also know its a blizzard product so it will definitely get worse the longer it goes on. POE is great and if you like learning and feeling rewarded its great. Last Epoch idk.

If you dont have a similar amount of time to spend in an ARPG, you should not listen to recommmendations of of streamers on this topic. No disrespect, but whenever I listen to the opinions of professional ARPG players, I'm thinking "thats a good point, but I dont want to spend 40 hours just to get started"

PoE is for no life streamers, you will not able progress past yellow maps, if you just play game … you need build guides and time to grind, after yellow maps Poe is like eating glass…

D4 is an MMO

20 hours a week is definitely casual. 2.5 hours a day, but play 80% of those hours over weekends/days off work. Maybe on the higher end of casual but still casual.

Noticed you have been very quiet on the utter failure of necropolis. GGG needs to hear from the community leaders like you. Path of Exile is all but dead at the moment and it breaks my heart.

GGG is too busy nerfing the game because of the sweats instead of letting casuals have fun. This league got ruined because of the nerfs.

why ever cater to casuals? You changed Ziz from the hardcore player you were. Maybe cause money as D4 and want to see big numbers? Why not try enlighten casuals to be more hardcore. Try Grim dawn is a jewel of a game.
