I’m 51 and after 2 kids, a hysterectomy and gaining 50+ lbs from menopause, I decided I’d try men’s boxer briefs instead. Best decision ever. Also, I bought some period panties from Knix because as noted above, things are falling apart and that means sometimes after I use the bathroom then stand up, I have a tiny bit of urine that sneaks out. Just a few drops but over the course of the day, it’s problematic. I tried pads and hate them. But the period panties are amazing and the most comfortable underwear I’ve ever worn. They are expensive but so worth it, and the added benefit of less waste from using pads for periods or minor bladder issues. I love them so much, I bought some for my girls and my mother to try too. Highly recommend if anyone is curious about trying them Next time I’m in market for undies, I’ll keep these companies in mind.

Loved this video!! I just made my first purchase from ARQ about 2 months ago. I'm plus sized (3X) and so finding an ethical and sustainable brand like them has been amazing. I first heard about them from KZfaqr Alli Cherry! I own the same leopard print top from them that you're wearing here which is so exciting to see because you've basically become my style icon. I love that a brand like ARQ has made it possible for someone who's my size to wear some of the same clothes you do!

I'm in the UK and the undies solution is always Marks and Spencer/M&S. They're fairly ethical for a mass market brand, good value and can't be beaten for comfort. Everyone buys their undies there. It looks like you can buy them online in the US now so maybe worth a shot in the future.

I find it really important how indent-y a garment is, but its a problem when many brands only has models with no flesh to indent, so you cannot see how tight parts of the garment is compared to the rest of the garment. I appreciate that you talk about details like that. Love when you talk about clothing!

I love Somas vanishing edge panties! I particularly love the tummy control vanishing edge for how they look under clothes; truly seamless, gives a smooth look without feeling uncomfortable like Spanx and you forget you're wearing them. There's a grippy lightweight plastic on the inside edge that grips to your butt, that doesn't budge.

I would like to see you review Dita Von Teese's line. She have a full brief and a high cut brief. Along the line of Jockey would be Bali. I like their brand. Then also old, old, olde (old with an e) school lines like Hanes or Fruit of the Loom. They definitely make full coverage. LOL

Omg, the salve to my soul I never knew I'd need: you reviewing full coverage undies, a product I personally don't even want! hahaha. What a JOY. First off - glad to know about these brands. Second off - just what fun to hear about the journey and like basic desires we have for our utilitarian items. I felt about this video the way I did about Sam Ravndahl's period cup videos, almost like thank god someone is talking about this, though I didn't know I NEEDED someone to talk about this. haha. I'd love a Skims vid and a bra vid. Yes much, please. haha
@kagitsune
@kagitsune 3 жыл бұрын
Just reordered from Proclaim and TomboyX! If ever need more undies, I might try some of these recommendations. And when you said the Skims were a "boy short with loosely hemmed edges" and you started getting to the cons of the product, I immediately knew that they'd be riding up. (fellow former sewn products professional here). I have actually been avoiding all boy shorts for several years now, because of their tendency to ride up. It's a delicate balance between "enough fabric to stay in place", and "too much fabric to stay in place". We need a study on this or something 🤣

I feel similarly passionately about finding quality, comfortable full coverage underwear. I also have a very long torso. During the Nordstrom sale I bought a pair of Chantelle high rise briefs and OMG. THEY’RE AMAZING. They are “one size” but they have xs-xl and plus size “one size” options. I was deeply dubious about them because of the one size claim, but they fit beautifully and are so comfortable and work really well for my long torso-ed, bottom heavy body. For context, I am a medium/8/29 in almost all pants. After loving the pair from the sale I bought a five pack :)

For all the Canadian ladies who want Arq undies, you can buy them in Canada at a shop called BEATEN it's online and saves on customs and duties. Thats where i bought mine and i was able to get all the styles that have been out of stock on ARQ for weeks now. They are authentic ARQ garments, i believe they work with them to make them more available to us Canadians. Plus BEATEN have a pick up option. Cheers

Yesss, I am sort of on the same hunt right now and it sounds like we have a lot of the same preferences. I have found that I really like the Full Coverage Re:Play Boyshort from Parade, if you're looking for additional affordable and sustainable options, it's only $9 and it's so cute and comfy. They aren't cotton but the liner is, but the material really feels so dreamy. It's all I ever want to wear anymore.

I feel so seen by this video! Also having a long torso and decently sized derrière, the search for a good granny panty never ends. I’ve found the best compromise with Pact high rise hipsters. While they occasionally ride up, they mostly stay in place, are relatively seamless, and a good price for organic cotton. I consider them a better alternative to cheap fast fashion undies. Probably much lighter weight than something like Arq though. The boy shorts are definitely low rise but don’t ride up, and while the leg opening has a thick seam, I keep them for lower rise pants. And I live in Pact’s pocket leggings. Love your thoughtful and thorough content, I’ve been curious about Arq for awhile and might have to take the plunge! Also curious if you’ve considered Pansy undies, I love their bras and while I haven’t tried their undies, they look like they might fit what you’re looking for.

I'm here for all the underwear content! As someone slightly bigger in size and without the torso elongation the Knickey mid-rise styles are my favorite (and the thong) after you recommend them last year. For any plus size apple shaped long torsoed ladies like me: ARQ is wonderful. I bought my sets in 2019, it’s all I wear (apart from the occasional nursing bra for convenience with baby). I wore the same pairs in the same size ALL the way before, during, and after pregnancy. I wash mine in the machine and hang to dry and they are STILL GOING STRONG 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I love the full coverage. The fabric is substantial- doesn’t show hair texture or anything. I’m not one to wear leggings that show panty lines- I go for long tops so that’s not an issue for me. Anyways 10/10 recommend ARQ.

WOW WOW WOW someone else who loves and hates the exact same things in underwear as me and has also thought about it at least as much as I have?? AMAZING. I know this is an older video, but in case you're still looking for more things to try: my current very, very favorite are Oddobody high-waisted (the description is "mid rise" but I'm also pretty long waisted and they come up exactly to my belly button). You can definitely size down if you don't want them baggy/loose, but the fabric is so incredibly lightweight that they don't really make lumps. A good less expensive option is Andie (the swimsuit brand) -- I actually currently have 3 (!) different high waisted, full-coverage options from them that just arrived and I can't wait to try.

I've heard good things about MadeTrade, specifically their Orly Bamboo ones and the Blue Bloem. I wonder if you'd like or hate the huha high rise briefs, they seem similar to the skims with the potential bunching but not exactly the same. Have you tried organicbasics before? They have some listed as 'superhighrise'. Pact's highrise hipsters seem similar to Arq but they wouldn't be as tall- maybe an alternative option for the pants that aren't as high wasted. I'd be curious about looking into the ethics of companies/sustainability in both the materials/processes but also with the longevity of the garments. I'm not too handy with sewing- would there be any option to alter the pairs to fit better? Or is it not worth the trouble?

Hannah, this video reminds me of a question I have been wanting to ask: are you acquainted with Justine Leconte? She's an independent designer from Europe and, in my modest opinion, your philosophies align. She's a KZfaqr as well!

My underwear needs are similar to yours and I really love the underwear uniqlo makes (idk if you have it in the US). They are not expensive, come in a lot of patterns and colours and are really really full coverage. The next time I am going to look for a more sustainable alternative, because they are fast fashion, but for me they have held up nicely.

Very excited to watch this video, thank you! I have been on this same search for a while. Hanes used to be my go to, but the past 3 styles I've got from them have inconsistent measurements and don't last long.

I have the Jockey panties in the high cut brief, and they fit so much better than their regular cut brief, plus the high cut does not ride up. The modal fabric is cool, comfortable and has many color options.

Have you ever looked at Soma's underwear? They have a good selection of high and mid-rise briefs. I have many pairs by them 😉

Soma Vanishing 360 (not Vanishing Edge which make me itch from the silicone) are my favorite. They don’t even show in my Lulus. No riding up. High waisted. I get the Retro Thong and the Modern Brief in medium. :)

It does kind of amaze me that with all the products on the market, it would be so difficult to find a good quality, comfortable, high waisted, full coverage pair of underwear that doesn't break the bank. As far as 100% cotton goes, I gave up that search because nothing met the criteria. I also find that no matter what, any underwear with seams are visible through any sort of clingy fabric one might be wearing on their bottom half. The best option I've been able to find are the Aerie Eyelash Lace High Waisted Boy Brief Underwear (I find the black ones the most flattering). They're lace, so that might not be ideal for everyone, but the lace is not scratchy and actually rather soft. They are very high waisted. Not the most full coverage possible, but enough so that I don't feel like they're riding up, and I am very sensitive to that. They are surprisingly comfortable for "sexy-ish" underwear, and I appreciate the lack of panty lines. Because they're delicate, I wash them in a lingerie bag and don't put them in the dryer. I can't speak to how long they last, but they're doing perfectly well several months in.

I love this very in depth analysis of underwear! I too have a hungry butt and cannot deal with anything even a little "cheeky" or else it turns into a thong no matter what. I recently realized I'm exactly the opposite in terms of fabric preference- I bought some sustainable, size inclusive yada yada underwear (Panty Drop) and they are that thick, sturdy cotton and it feels like so much like I've put a baby's onesie on under my clothes which doesn't work for me! They sound quite a bit like the ARQ ones which is good to know because I've considered them, too.

I don’t know if you’re still looking for your absolute perfect full coverage brief but I would recommend Boody! They use sustainable bamboo and are SO comfortable. They have a full brief and an even fuller new boyleg brief. They are the softest, most comfortable underwear I’ve ever owned! They don’t move, are decently high waisted (I also have a long waist), and I find I can wear them with almost everything and no showing.

I bought Knickey for myself and my daughter based on your previous review, and they have been very comfortable, both of us are happy with them. I am keen to try out the ARQ, it's difficult because we would only be able to order online and we don't live in the states, so i know i won't be returning them if they aren't any good. But I will try them out eventually, good to have the sizing information, thank you!
