The pokedex is full of insane descriptions, and the Electric Pokemon are no exception! Today, I'm combing through every single pokedex entry for all the electric pokemon to find out which one is the most powerful. Literally!

Btw, the original Japanese name for thunderbolt is 100,000 Volts, so raichu is at a standard value. Also copperajah and cufant are steel type elephants, ironically the Indian elephant based ones, and referenced in a gen 8 raichu dex entry in place of the real world elephant.

I think, when determining the power output of a thunderbolt, a Pokémon's special attack stat should be taken into account. After all, SPa determines how well the Pokémon can dish out the thunderbolt. As to calculating this, I'd probably define raging bolt's SPa stat is the average for a thunderbolt, as the Pokémon is literally called a thunderbolt. Then, you can calculate the multiplier between Raging Bolt's SPa stat (137) and any given polemons' SPa stat, and apply that multiplier to the power output.

If you used the bp of thunderbolt, you could also used the Pokemons base attack and sp.attk stats to differentiate Raikou and Pichu for example 😅 not that it would make a a difference in the end

How many Pokémon could destroy the planet according to the Pokedex? For example, Lanturn can be calculated to be able to emit enough light to destroy the world if not the galaxy or more

I hate to break it to you, but the intro is just the same MP4 that I use every time. Adding in Easter eggs would require me making a new background image and animating all the same moves to match…

Imma be honest, I was a little weirded out by that too. I’m a mechanical engineer so I don’t have a lot of electrical background, that’s just what my research turned up

6:44 Okay, not to be nit picky, but we know exactly how many volts Thunderbolt has. It's Japanese name is literally "100,000 Volts". Edit: fixed with correction.

I thought it was 10,000 (mirroring the Z-Move), but then checking, it's actually 100,000 Volts, making Ash and Pikachu's Z-Move a nice 100x stronger.

People make fun of a lot of Pokemon scientists for good reason... I mean, how could they assume a common Pokemon could generate enough heat as the sun and still think they're safe enough to catch it? At least REAL life scientists have got their stuff together throughout the centuries we've existed... hehehe...

why wouldn't you assume the velocity of 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt was that of an irl thunderbolt? if it still classifies as one it makes sense to assume that most of the variables are the same across the two with the one in the name is the only difference. though that would throw off around half this video's math

Great question! When you’re talking about power, you can talk about it either in terms of electrical properties (volts and amps) OR mechanical properties (force and velocity). From an electrical standpoint, the voltage is analogous to the force, and the current is analogous to the velocity, but you can’t mix and match them. When you’re taking about the movement of electrons and charges, like with a bolt of lightning, you use the electrical variables. When you’re talking about physical objects, like Manectric, you use the mechanical variables. So the effective new “velocity” of 10,000,000 V thunderbolt is actually the new current that I found, the real velocity of the thunderbolt doesn’t actually matter in this case

Can’t every electric type use gigavolt havoc if they have a Z crystal and any electric move? And if we count 10,000,000 volt thunderbolt despite that requiring, a z Crystal, shouldn’t we count that too? (And isn’t a gigavolt a lot more than 10,000,000 volts?)
