I was considering some other engineering fields even though EE has always stuck out to me, and this video just cemented my choice once and for all! Plenty of the subfields you explained already look so fun and interesting, and I can't wait to start taking classes on them so I can figure out which career to choose in the future. You did such a good job at explaining everything in an understandable yet informative way, and i'll definetely be checking your book out! Hey man I hope you see this I’m 17 and have been thinking about what to pursue. I’ve always been a hands-on person and I’ve finally narrowed down what I possibly want to do. Software engineering & electrical engineering is what I’m between. The question is if I go to college what should I major in? I want a major in what could hit these subjects since they’re in the same field. Would EE be best for that or Computer engineering? Because I’ve seen software engineering have its own course but I want to have both in case I want to switch. So I’m confused and Just wanna be prepared but I’m mad over thinking and don’t know where to start, I’ve been hoping to get books for software and math to get a start on getting knowledge on math. Which I really suck at.

I have to ask, what math classes do you lack in compsci? don't compsci majors also take calc?
@PCAMY
@PCAMY 4 ай бұрын
@@splinx1768 I was a music major before changing my major, hence why I’m just now starting math at a collegiate level. I also had no clue I’d ever try something like this when I was in highschool, so I didn’t aim for high level math classes. I understand I’m pretty behind but I’m very willing to put *a lot* of work in to get where I need to be. The thing with compsci is that the classes don’t require math prerequisites, so I can immediately start taking them. With EE, I need to have Calculus with Analytic Geometry to even start the classes, which is fair because EE is very math intensive. Because of that, it would take me much longer to graduate as an EE major, extending an already very comprehensive degree program. In Florida (maybe this is a country wide thing, I’m not sure) there’s a big emphasis on completing your degree on time. I still have to take methods of calculus, but I can start on the compsci classes before I get to that point.
@PCAMY
@PCAMY 4 ай бұрын
@@splinx1768essentially I’m allowed to take compsci courses as I’m catching up on math, whereas if I were an EE major I would need to get through a lot of math classes before I could even start the curriculum. I still will end up taking methods of calculus though. At my school the bare minimum for starting the EE program is calculus with analytic geometry. I was a Music major before switching to compsci which is why I haven’t taken any math classes until this point. I also didn’t have much direction in high school because I had a pretty rough start in freshman year. In any case, I’m 100% willing to put *a lot* of work in to succeed in math. compsci and EE are definitely fields that I’m passionate about. My school just cares about graduating in a timely fashion a lot and trying to get into the EE program would delay me significantly. I honestly wouldn’t care about graduating late if I could take that path, but I’m still extremely happy with this path.

Same here but I got a nursing degree instead... I think you have the upper hand and it won't be difficult to make the switch with high level math and physics courses already covered in your degree

@@reyoscura9229 Yeah , I do have the basics , but I think time is a really big constraint I am already 21. Worst part is I am uncertain what I like.

question/tldr: Do you think certain areas are more susceptible to be replaced by AI than others? It's hard to feel positive about it in the current climate. background: Im an EE grad with a double major in computer and communications engineering grad, I've been doing embedded software dev for the last two years and going back to start my masters this year in electronics and computer engineering, but im also very interested in digital and wireless comms. Long term I'd like to go into teaching which means going the route of a PhD first, but it's hard to feel like im doing the right thing committing more to this field with AI coming down the line. Like to me doing something in business to pair with my EE degree would be a better decision but I just dont have any interest in the business side of things

hmm thats a very open ended question. I think there will always be need for problem solvers with technoloy background. You can ask with all the other EE grads on our discord, just post this in the main discussion or advice section discord.com/invite/dZUbkpHDsB

I am a junior in ECE. If my favorite courses were Computer Architecture and Embedded Systems, what career options do I have? I don't take VLSI until senior year and want to break into a field regarding computer chips. Do embedded systems and computer architecture/FPGA help here? And do I need an M.S?

It is an inter disciplinary field that overlaps both EE and CS, you can focus more on the low level side such as assembly, shell or kernel or the high level developement side depends on your knowledge background
