@@user-xq2kb5lk2j Sure, Taiwan is an independent country. It is older than the CCP. It is all that's left of the previous, more legitimate government of China. The CCP hasn't won the war against the Republic of China, it just forced them off of the mainland and established a new country where they had power. The only way both mainland China and Taiwan can ever be legitimately under a single government is if the ROC is returned to power over the whole thing. But of course, we could even go back to restoring the Qing Empire, since the ROC was a rebellion against them before the commies rebelled against the ROC. Anyways communist governments are never and will never be legitimate.

As a Hungarian, I didn’t expect those statistics from the population While a lot of people in our population still support the government, opposition voters are pretty much overwhelmingly anti-China (only a very small portion of them could be classified as pro-China, but they are usually even further to the right than Orbán, and only do that because they really vehemently hate Europe and the US), and there are a lot of public fears about China’s growing influence here. The railways built recently cost a lot, and it doesn’t help that it seems like Orbán wanted to replace EU funds with Chinese loans, so he can steal from them as long as EU funds are frozen. However, we all know what happens to a country when they can’t pay their loans back. There are also a lot of fears about the recent battery factories, as our environmental regulations are probably the weakest in the EU, and they are known to be very polluting. I imagine even some of the pro-Fidesz crowd is afraid of this. Then again, maybe all of this positivity is from government voters, but even in their case, I expected a lot of them to be more neutral. While Orbán is pretty much pro-China, he only very recently started including this in his propaganda. Before that, he bashed the EU a lot, but focused more on pro-Russia views, and didn’t really talk about China publically, doing deals under the table and just mentioning them as the “traditional East” against the “declining West” at most. So it’s surprising that the support from them is that high, as they didn’t talk about China a lot before; really. There is unfortunately also some racism against Asians, which is on the rise recently thanks to foreign Asian workers arriving to our country (they don’t really do anything wrong, but you can imagine how a rural person who never left the village before in his life feels when people speaking different languages arrive).

Of course the support from conservatives towards trading with China is high. Same goods at a lower price. As a conservative I assure you that we don't think about global or international objectives such as environmentalism and who we trade with, but only economy and how our lifes go. China trades stuff for cheap. Russia trades oil and gas for cheap. Environmentalism is expensive and Hungary is relatively poor. All these kind of justify our position as conservatives. Most of us aren't even pro-Russia or pro-China. We just don't bother to avoid making trade with them if it helps us. We don't try to make a passive cold war with them. Spending less for more goods means more money remain for the country and its people. And last I checked the entire EU doesn't even reach 1% of the global emissions. When I saw videos with the Just Stop Oil protesters blocking roads in West European countries like France and UK I knew I want that behaviour outlawed as it wastes time, resources and only causes well justified hate.

@@Hardcore_Remixer the problem is that china and russia trades goods for cheap specifically to undermine competition. China wont use sweatshop labor to undermine educated labor in europe forever, and as competition dies chinese goods will increase in cost until we reach a point where we become reliant on china for products. This is the problem with the "conservative" approach you got, because you completely disregard the long term, you disregard your own country and your countrymen's ability to thrive and endure. even enviromentalism is ultimately a long term investments in the enviromental health of your country, aka the ability for farmers to farm without having to fear irregular floods and droughts that could cripple industry. and thats without mentioning the risks of letting countries like china and russia grow more powerful. we saw what happened to ukraine. doesnt matter how profitable the trade is when one madman's ambitions for land could cripple your nation in terms of people and economy for decades if not centuries to come. This is why Hungary is so goddamn poor in the first place. China can't transferring batteries because has a risk of disasters happening during transportation. EU and USA have these strict rules in place for a reason. Remember those disasters in the past? Some ships or planes had issues. But get this, while Europe might seem all strict about it, some countries like Serbia, Germany, and France are actually opening up to the idea of making batteries. It's like they're saying, "Hey, let's make some jobs, folks!" And don't even get me started on the history between China and Greece. I mean, we're talking about navy exchanges going back like 3000 years. That's no joke. And Piraeus Port It's practically a symbol of that ancient connection. But here's the kicker, some folks in Europe are giving China the side-eye over all this. They're saying Europe's got too many crazy rules, you know, making things harder than they need to be. But hey, that's just how it is. Reason is the following.... (others: Greece? we want part of the cake) The Port of Piraeus in Greece, dubbed the 'Dragon’s Head' of China's Belt and Road Initiative, has seen significant investment from China's state-owned enterprise COSCO. While shipowners and the Greek government have benefited economically, local communities and workers have faced challenges. Port workers have protested low pay and safety concerns, while environmental impacts and lack of public consultation have alienated locals. The Greek government, in a financial crisis in 2010, welcomed COSCO's investment. However, there's been criticism regarding the lack of enforcement of EU regulations and engagement with local stakeholders. Addressing these issues requires better enforcement of existing regulations, engagement with stakeholders, and systematic dialogue to balance economic growth with local concerns.

Since only 51% of Taiwan’s population is Taiwanese, it is awkward for you celebrate Lithuania’s “Taiwanese Representative Office in Lithuania”. The office flies the Republic of China flag while it excludes 49% of the population under ROC control Only 40% of Taiwan voters support secessionist candidates, 60% favor continuing peaceful relations with the mainland You are misinformed

Germany wants important commercial ties with Russia. We all know how well that ended. Now Germany pursue commercial ties with China. They never learn, do they? In the meantime they criticise countries that run a deficit when their own surplus is only due to their commerce with questionable partners.

Its simple lack of alternatives . Because we Germans have an Export economic. So you need to buy cheap and export for big money. We don't have much ressources so there is not really an alternative. So Germany will always have to take the risk to get cheap ressources.
@idraote
@idraote 25 күн бұрын
@@Pointi69 An export economy is unbalanced and it is not sustainable in the long run. Especially not if Germany tries to maintain a façade of credibility, a ethical high ground among its peers and, at the same time, it make deals with the scum of the Earth. I remember very well German politicians blaming Spain, Greece and most of all Italy for their "crimes against humanity" when dealing with refugees. The same politicians who have accepted Russian money to fund their elections.

@@yipzoe3865 Robot, stop the behaviour of brushing comments in the comment section, you are caught in a cocoon of information created by the western media. During the communist era China could not trade directly with foreign countries and had to use Hong Kong as a transit point for trade with other countries, Hong Kong prospered because of this and it was China that made Hong Kong what it is. After China's reform and opening up, Hong Kong's economic status was replaced by Shenzhen and Shanghai, and Hong Kong's prosperity was a product of a special period. Hong Kong's prosperity was a product of a special period. Now that Hong Kong's economy is fully supported by China, Hong Kong will slowly return to its rightful position.😅

@@lcoyle1998 by supporting democracies you mean invading other countries like Russia or overthrowing democratically elected governments or supporting genocide like the US!? 😂🤦🏽‍♂️ The war in Ukraine could have been avoided if there EU had a backbone and prising it’s own foreign policy instead of running after the US like a lost puppy! Decoupling from China is a pipe dream, that had to be done decades ago. If you think inflation is a problem now, wait and see what’s going to happen if the EU tries to decouple from China 🤦🏽‍♂️.
