Absolutely wonderful and clear explanation. The one stick I have with the sanders is the on off switch it is very unuser friendly.

This was the clearest video I’ve watched on explaining all the Festool differences. Really well done. Thank you. Which of the Festool sanders would be the closest to “regular/common” ROS, such as, Makita BO5041, Milwaukee M18 cordless sander, Dewalt 6423 etc?

Yes this was a great video for sure! Thank you...I am in the furniture restoration and painting industry. I see many of my peers with Surfprep and the Festool. Trying to see which is best option for me. I do love the sponge, I do many pieces with curves and molds, that the plus on the SP. I heard you comment about getting the option of a triangle RO 90 DX FEQPLUS. Was that correct? I need to get into corners and I need to be able to get in contours and molds without destroying them. Will this tool work?

Yes - the 90mm Rotex has the triangle (Delta) shaped pad you can easily switch out with no tools required. Very handy!

Basically the larger the stroke, the faster the feed rate is and therefore the material is removed at a faster rate

Looking for a ets ec 150. When would you recommend a 3 or 5 mm stroke? I'll only be sanding wood but not sure what the positives or negatives are of a 3 vs 5 mm stroke.

There are no real negatives to either. Some people like the 3mm if they do mostly finishing. We like the 5mm, as it's more versatile and the sander pad moves more so it does more work for you. You can't go wrong with either choice!

I have a ETS EC 150/5 EQ sander, but don't have the dust extractor right now... can I use a Long-life Dust Collection Bag with it? Will it fit? Great video btw!

Happy to help! No impact on the motor. Just not as efficient dust extraction as using a machine

which one has the thicker pads that can contour to beveled edges like on door casings that aren't flat? painter here...

Out of the box, Festool sanders come with a soft backing pad, generally intended for flat sanding but there are accessories available that greatly improve sanding for finer details. The first accessories to consider are the interchangeable backing pads. Backing pads come in 3 different hardnesses to suit different applications. The soft and hard pads are intended for flat sanding applications. The ultra soft backing pad can be utilized for sanding gentle curves (ie autobody work). The most effective accessory for finer detail sanding is the interface pad. A thicker foam pad that works with the hoop and loop feature on your sander. We sell backing pads in all three hardnesses and Interface pads for all sizes of festool circular sanders ( 90mm, 125mm and 150mm diameters ).

He gave you examples on which sanders are great for what applications. For example, he mentioned how the triangle sander and the RO90 are great for stair work, box applications, tight corners, etc. Does he really need to hold your hand?

no need to repeat the difference between the 6 inch and 5 inch is the % surface area covered and that it is good for larger projects - that is not useful after the first mention and detracts from your comparison overall.
