Just a rambling vid talking about which gun I think you can take right out of the box (NIB) and put right into your holster for CCW. Stay Safe and Check 360 Often!

Smith and Wesson is where it's at for revolvers. A lot of people don't realize that Smith's law enforcement days made them the way they are. Out of the box slightly wider cylinder gap to prevent bind ups, and a very reliable hammer block system which is nearly impossible to break, in contrast with an easily broken transfer bar like in Ruger, Taurus, new Colt etc.

@@logangodofcandy I had an older Taurus rimfire where the transfer bar snapped off after 1,000 rounds. Taurus replaced it and the new one snapped in 750 rounds. I have watched other people use Taurus revolvers where they got cylinder binding issues, and the feeler gauge showed about a .002" (I may have added a zero, I forgot how the zeros work) as where a good S&W is .004" or .006", and that's intentional because - let's say one is firing a hot .357 Magnum, that steel can expand just enough to bind up that .002" gap. S&W already took that into consideration and that's why they are relieved a bit. S&W was the oldschool Glock of it's day, the way Glock doesn't use full chamber support to aid in feeding.

The Glocks are not as reliable as people think they are, I own the G17 and 31 G3's and for the first couple of hundred rounds I have numerous malfunctions on both, the revolvers are much more reliable, the plastic wonders will get you KIA in a self defense situation. I am 59 years old and I have probably shot more rounds then any average tool owner, trust me the revolver you save your life every time as long as you keep it reasonably clean. 🇺🇲💪🇺🇲💪🇺🇲

Thank you for this interesting video. For persons who can only have very little training, I would only leave the revolver on the table. A semiautomatic pistol is more complex to teach, and it is more complex to live safely with one of them than with a revolver. Blue guns are also an invaluable tool both for teaching and training. It helps tremendously to have one identical to every "serious" firearms one owns.

Well said! I find much to agree with in this video. In its purest of forms, a plain jane, mil-spec 1911 from a reputable manufacturer with 230gr ball ammo has always been reliable out of the box & into the holster for me. I've seen many heads explode on the range when I recommend this combo. 😂 I'm well aware of its limitations & liabilities too, but if one can accept them and maintain the pistol accordingly, it can serve you well. 👍👍

There is a exception to every rule. The first Glock I bought, a G17 Gen 4, was a total lemon. It spit the brass back at my right shoulder and bicep, and the last round would cartwheel straight up and land on the bill of my hat. Sent it back to the mother ship and they "fixed" it. It would still throw brass back at my shoulder/arm, but the last round wouldn't fly straight up any more. Got my courage up again to try Glock once more and got a G45 not long ago and it's been problem free.

Yeah I agree, for me it would be Glock, HK (probably any HK, but definitely the da/sa ones), then I would say S&w revolvers, Ruger revolvers, and colt.

Train with all your guns but i would trust a Sig P226 or 228, PX4, CZ 75, HK USP, Berreta 92. Many reliable choices out there with much better triggers. Glock is great though, we'll see where the company goes now with the founder gone.

I had 1k through my 26 before I carried it. I also ran a lot of ammo brands and it chewed everything up. My friend bought a new 26 here in CA and it was shaving off brass and lead in the slide and just doing very strange things. I noticed when he bought it the slide looked parkerized! He ran it and ran it to see if it would stop with all the mals and it got better but still shaving brass and double feeds. Needless to say he sent it to GLOCK. Always run a bunch of ammo through a carry gun, even a GLOCK can be a lemon. And before you say it was a mag or something, we tried everything to no avail. Luckily it was under warranty and GLOCK is pretty fast to fix things. I'm sure he will get an entirely new gun.

I’m a relatively new shooter. There’s really no manual for this kinda stuff which sucks and I’m not talking specifically which gun to buy. I mean how to choose a ccw pistol for you. Everyone is different our bodies are different, our finger lengths, size of your hand. Documentation for different holster types is terrible, even the manufacturers website lacks documentation on their own products for example what position is this holster suitable for? Lots of places don’t tell you that smaller guns are generally more challenging to master and maybe less enjoyable to shoot for various reasons.

The quality control of Glocks seem to have gone down in recent years. Always check recent data and never go with reputation alone.
@darkoflight49385 ай бұрын
I agree with you! A Glock has never put me down yet, nor has a S&W. There are obviously more guns that work like that. For instance a assortment of Walthers, H&K´s, Sigs, Colt´s, CZ´s, Manurhin or Rugers. As you say, I wouldn´t recommend just open a gun box, load the thing up and carry it. Training and testing IS a paramount thing. And training... Did I mention training?

Gen 5 Glocks require a break-in period. Just bought a new G26 and it wouldn't run reliably until I ran about 200 rounds through it. 124 grain ammo ran the most reliable until I got it past that threshold.

I think with some dry fire presentations and grip fundamentals, you should be okay with the Glock right out of the box. You can find reasonable ammo right now but the range time is expensive. I don’t have any experience with those dry fire training apps that show you where you hit the target but I’d like to check one out some day.

I carried my Gen 2 Glock 22 straight from the box to the holster because I didn't have time to get to the range first. That gun has proven to be 100% reliable. However my Glock 19X choked on the 1st mag out of the box, and my Gen 3 Glock 23 was very unreliable with a weapon light attached to it.
@waholoopesorry743 ай бұрын
I believe that your experience with the weapon light was real but it makes no sense that it would hurt reliability. Reducing muzzle flip can only increase reliability because it reduces the risk of limp wristing
@Kawboy653 ай бұрын
@@waholoopesorry74 It turned out to be a very common issue. Apparently mounting a light to a Gen 3 Glock 23 altered the frame flexing characteristics just enough to produce failures. The band aid fix was to install increased strength magazine and recoil springs. There are all sorts of accounts on the web collaborating this. My particular gun was 100% reliable without the light attached, but produced failures every magazine with the light attached.

Glock has less of a margin of error. I know people say, "keep your finger off the trigger," but carrying a weapon with a lighter-than-necessary trigger pull seems like tempting fate.
@mrdave32895 ай бұрын
It's better to not carry a gun, if you don't know it well and practice at the range with it minimally once a month.
