Just to add: Garmin's battery last 14-28 days depending on the model, you can load customized workout which Apple don't allow, you won't need multiple health app like Apple does to track all the metrics, you still have tap to pay via Garmin which supports all the cards that Apple does, and you can still reply to msgs if its Android phone.

Apple watch if you want to become really good at plugging smartwatches into a charger.

I love the look of my 7x. Its held up well. I wear it everywhere and coming up on well over a year of use. Cant remember the last time I charged it.

What these reviews always miss is half the population (at least) can't use an apple watch as they don't use an iPhone!

if you use an iphone that is :) for android garmin is definitly op and it also depends on what sports youre doing i would say. if you do a lot of cycling, a garmin watch combined with a edge is way more useful than an apple watch

The problem is when you put them side by side in actual tracking of miles, the Apple Watch over estimates your miles and calories burned.

The Elephant in the room, which most reviewer dont see, the dreadful battery life pretty much negates the AWU for fitness & outdoor , everytime you have an activity - the damn watch needs charging, forget weekends away outdoors. The Garmin is serious , fitness tracking is amazing , Garmin Pay works great, Spotify works great, i can go camping for 4 days with 30 percent battery and it floats through no sweat. Im so glad i swapped to the Garmin Epix Pro .

How is the heart rate tracking? I have a Garmin Vivoactive 3 and it’s awful at tracking my heart rate unless I hook it up to an external heart rate monitor

Apple has LCD display. Fenix is is reflective. Completely different experience.

My personal experience with Garmin watches is that my Instinct 2 Solar Tactical works without any problems, while my Instinct 2x Solar Tactical is full of bugs. With the Instinct 2x Solar Tactical I have only problems. This is also the statement from my circle of friends, who paint a mixed picture of Garmin products.

My Fenix 7 lasts 20 days with everything turned on and 1 hour workout everyday. My Apple watch 7 and Galaxy watch 5 has been in the drawer since i got the garmin. Those only went 2-3 days max. The galaxy at least had its own independent phone number. I do miss that. The apple watch is only the best for *iPhone users. The only knock on the garmin is the screen but that's what allows to have amazing battery life.

Garmin is gps fitness watch, not a smartwatch, it straight kills apple for exercise and biometrics and gps and battery life, and they're not retarded looking like the apple watch, I have a phone for apps, I bought my watch to get in shape and to be a watch.

If you're an Android user, the Garmin is a pretty good smart watch. If you're an iPhone user, Apple have deliberately blocked Garmin so it cannot use the messaging/replying smart watch feature. Blame Apple, Garmin built it in and it works great for Android :)

I agree! 1) Apple Watch is basically another phone on your wrist 2) heavy on the wrist 3) short battery life 4) it’d also cost more to get Cellular 5) it’s dumb to do calls and text on the Apple Watch If your goal is fitness - nothing beats Garmin. And you need your phone anyways for getting things done so again Apple Watch becomes pointless and useless In terms of accuracy and datapoints I also give it to the Garmin watch.

AW needs to add the recovery and analysis like Garmin has - “body battery, time to recovery etc.” It has a gig of RAM and a bigger battery- use it!!!

After switching to garmin this year I can’t see myself using anything else for sports anymore. Having to worry about watch battery on a 4+ hr bike ride is unacceptable. +apple products aren’t supported by many power measuring pedals and trainers because it takes up a bluetooth slot.

I think though to just say if you are only looking for GPS fitness tracker to go with the Garmin leaves out some of the nuances you get with the Garmin watch. I know people have used the athleytic app to replicate the recovery metrics you get with garmin and other watches like Coros, but it is nowhere the same that you get with Garmin. I like the body battery, I like the recovery features on the Garmin, I also really like the suggested workouts feature depending on what your training load is, and set training plan etc. A lot of that is really hard to replicate on the Apple Watch and even if you can, now you have to pay for five different subscriptions for all of those apps on the Apple Watch when it’s already baked into Garmin. I also think it’s an interesting comparison about the smartwatch integration when you compare iOS to android. For those people who do have an android, depending on the Garmin watch you do you buy, you may have a better integration with being able to answer calls and some of the more smartwatch features if you get something like a garmin venu 3 or the vivo active watches.

They both caters to two different demographics. Apple watch is a phone on your wrist and the Garmin is a sports watch. There is no right or wrong. I think apple is more versatile than Garmin in terms of doing more from a watch. But it’s come at a cost with a low battery life. Garmin is a sports watch and probably one of the best ones out there. Apple is a watch+phone+sports data tracking. It depends on what you need from your watch. I run marathons, training for triathlons and the ultra 2 with a Garmin hrm works like a magic. But I do wish if I have an epix 2. If Garmin epix or Enduro styles come with full LTE capabilities I think I will make the jump.

If your idea of exercise is speedwalking around the mall, the Apple watch is where it's at. If you're actually any kind of athlete, especially one that does anything outdoors, it's a no-brainer. Garmin Not to mention that little thing called battery life.

Hey Shervin, how do you feel ab the HR tracker and pulse ox on the garmin vs the AW ultra? I have both and feel as though the garmin is less accurate when it comes to tracking those two. Still love my garmin though.

I am going to buy a Garmin Fenix 7 Pro 47mm. Of course, I would prefer the X 51mm version. However, it looks like a massive brick on my wrist. I dislike the Epix. It is too bright. The MIP screen will motivate me to go outdoors more often.
