@Student Rohan Joshi T can and has done bomb drop combos before. He just chooses not to most of the time because its not consistent yet. I believe that he does lab those combos behind the scenes and will start using them more when he feels theyre ready

Optimizing Links neutral is what will make him a consistent threat, that‘s how you push his meta infinitely more than you do with optimising bomb loops, and that‘s exactly what T does. It will be 1000 times easier for T to just start learning bomb loops than it will be for those highly technical twitter combo Links to learn how to play neutral as good as T does, so T will always stay ahead of them.

@@geekmac9349 I agree. Just attempting to set up bomb loops is already incredibly difficult against any ordinary player. However, once you factor in a professional opponent's technical ability, and the pressure and nerves that accompany a tournament setting, it becomes a practically impossible task. Link's remote bomb is certainly the most interesting part of his kit, but I don't believe that relying on it alone will bring out his potential. Link has a lot of oppressive tools in his kit that are missed out on whenever a person focuses on the bomb for too long. That's why T's decision to use the bomb minimally in tournament is bringing him so far in bracket. Honestly, it's more terrifying to know that T has made it so far with Link _without_ the remote bomb. I mean, imagine how crazy he'll become once he labs out a more consistent bomb set up, together with all of the tools he's already mastered....

Palu does beat link if played really lame. Link has a huge issue with back air and auto reticle, almost to the point where it stops his entire gameplan. Dabuz didn't pick up on that fast enough and lost because of it

It does not mean that Palu will be guaranteed to win the match, but rather it will eaiser to fight link. Saying "That's still a win" does absolutely nothing to nullify the fact that the mu is only 55-45. A winning mu means that the character has advantages; that's it. The more one-sided the mu is, the more the advantages will actually mean in an actual match. I agree with the statement "but it's only 55-45" as Palu does not too big advantages for Dabuz to easily win against T because even with the correct way of playing the mu, T still has a chance to beat simply because T would know how to counter his gameplan once spotted, but Dabuz may not know what to do about since his Palu isn't as good as his other characters. Simply put, T beat Dabuz because he didn't know how to deal with T's Link, not a lack of character to character mu knowledge. T deserved that win fair and square.

As Esam says, and I agree from playing all three, Young Link is the least consistent and easily the most technical. Toon Link for sure is the most versatile, but much easier to out space and kill due to floatiness. BOTW Link has the raw kill power, survivability due to being a heavy, remote bomb and fast fall nair that beats out most options. I main BOTW (if that wasn't obvious) while still testing the waters with the other two. BOTW relies more on your ability to read and set up your opponent since he's slower, but short hop fair 1, short hop bair, short hop/fast fall nair are all moves that come out quickly and are the bread and butter of his neutral. Especially nair, as that hitbox lingers for AGES. The bomb is also my favorite addition to his kit as it has a lingering hitbox as long as it's in motion. So z-dropping and just letting it bounce is a threat all on its own. The opponent has no idea when you'll detonate it as it bounces menacingly lol

Also, his dair sucks, but you can mix it up by short hopping it as an out of shield option on occasion. At that point you could short hop fast fall it, or don't and possibly get the double hit. Downside is that the lag afterwards is possibly the worst of all of his attacks. So don't throw it out too often. Not sure when this became a tutorial lol Sorry for the novel.

I think its kind of an impossible question because of how complex this game can be. Some things to think about is the amount of matchups in this game where a high tier just gets cheesed by a low or mid tier or it really is a losing matchup for the high tier. Also defin perfect in what ways? Would both bots be perfect? If so how would any interaction go down? They would always clang id think. Unless you go further with the question itself I think the answer would be hero because if he had perfect rng he would just win everytime.

MewsDaBest perfect as in 20XX. The most optimized version of the character based on the possible things in the game. Basically the computer optimizing the character.

I think the only way to truly know that is to have an AI algorithm that's super crazy at optimizing a certain characters playstyle run a round robin tournament with each battle taking place at least 100x per matchup and then looking at who has the best and most consistent results. Only problem is, uh, that's kind impossible and will be for a while. Playstyles and use of moves aren't as simple as programming an algorithm to do it; a lot of it is subjective and built on a meta. (I mean sure, you can have an AI use the cheasiest/broken moves of every character and just have them replicate it perfectly every time, but if the bot spams it because it believes it is the best strategy, does that reeeeeaaaally make the character the best?) Another reason it's not that simple is because I don't think there can be a single character that just demolishes the entire cast with 0 issues. At best I'd say the objective best character can handle 50-75% of the cast with little to no issues.

Like tbh I think it'd be easier to get a bot to run the round robin tournament a* fuck ton of times and just use the level 9 CPUs instead of making a "perfect bot" for every individual character. Hell, a round robin tournament of the best users of each individual character in Smash would probably be a better representation than making a perfect bot. (Though it's probably the least feesible.)

Young Link’s edgeguarding is good just not as great as most characters, I’d say keep going for it, I score most of my kills from edgeguards regardless.
