Important distinction on the new figure's articulation: The configuration of the shoulder pad makes it so it can move sideways alongside the arm as you move it forwards, whereas the old figure's shoulder pad only hinges up and down, so it gets in the way of the forward/backward movement. That's a big upgrade. (Also, in case you want to point this out in the upcoming review, that Model 20 figure is actually a mislabelled Model 24 figure, matching its design 1:1 to how it appeared in its debut in Iron Man v3 #73).

The chunkier boots come from John Romita Jr's second run on Iron Man, making the new one artist specific, but I prefer the original smaller boots.

The pinless arms belong to the War Machine Deluxe. I missed that detail in my review too by the way 😊

I dont get why hasbro doesnt release 2 versions of each iron man figure as variants. One with yellow paint and the other with gold. That way both paintjob fans can get their preferred paint job iron man

It basically comes down to Epic Heroes' superior paint job to Retro-carded's better scaling and extras. The new one's probably gonna get a lot of custom paint jobs shown off soon.

This was the armor I grew up with and I was ecstatic to see them releasing an updated version. I'm bummed the articulation doesn't vary that much from the previous figure, but scaling wise it'll look much better in the collection. I agree that every IM figure should have a deep red/gold paint variation at least and will gladly rebuy the figure in that paint scheme as long as the unibeam/arc reactor is painted yellow/gold to match (I am not a fan of the blue at all).

That retro packaging reminds me of toy hunting at toy's R us getting a glad bag of toybiz crap for the $ of one marvel legends figure 😂❤

I remeber getting the older epic heros. repack version, they repacked him in the retro card with smaller feet, i found it at ross for about 10 bucks in 2020

I'm with you in liking the metallic paint of the Epic Heroes version better than the brighter yellow and red plastic look, but the small size of the EH figure makes it incompatible with other Marvel Legends, which basically disqualifies it in my book. So the Retro Card version is the automatic winner for me just based on scale alone.

I love the old one, I have both the large and small boots, but the head size is way too small ... I wish the new model 09 was a little better in details :(

I know this is dumb but I’m definitely repainting my Model 9, idk but Iron Man looks weird in yellow and red, he’s called the Golden Avenger, it’s yellow in the comics because it would have been near impossible to do gold in comics at the time.

Im not even an iron man fan, but the retro designs are really sweet.

I have that original Epic Heroes Iron Man and I really want the update. I love how nice the old figure looks but the possibility is so bad I don't like to actually mess with it. I really hate Y jointed hips and the shoulder pads are very in the way of articulation. Great video 👍 The new figure looks like a much needed improvement.

The Mo.09 is my 2nd favorite armor (1st is the Modular armor aka Model 13 - because it's the suit from MvC and the 90s cartoon). But I prefer Version 2 over Version 1, because the slimmer boots are how he looked in most of the comics that featured the suit AND it's how he looked in the Captain America and The Avengers game. I'm currently working on getting Marvel Legends Figures of all of the characters that appear in that game. I really hope Hasbro releases Version 2 with the game-accurate boots. I also hope they release a marbleized metallic version, because I prefer it over the ketchup/mustard color scheme.

I think the model 9 showed up for the last few episodes of the iron man cartoon. still dont get why they didnt go for the red from the ai armor. hasbro really needs to set a rule that all iron mans use the same paint/ plastic from the modular or mark 3 movie figure.

It looks cool but I got the one with the hologram head so that’s my standard iron man.

I had the the vintage mold, is nice but the soulders pats limits so much the posability. I love the jokes with the names

I cant wait for the next Iron man review, i actually know what that evil dark blue red eyed iron man is! Tony of earth 18264940087 lost Pepper because she saved captain America from the bullet intended for him during civil war. Tony snapped and realized what he had done and designed this more menacing dark suit, inspired by spider-mans symbiote suit. He then dismantled the avengers 1 by 1 leaving cap for last and chaining him up to an arc reactor, slowly tearing the flesh from caps bones. Tony then proceeded to then take over America and the surrounding countries. Doom then waged war on Tony and the fight ended with Tony becoming the sole victory left horribly scared by battle, he then took the moniker Iron Doom.

The 2012 version is WAY too SHORT! Btw ive heard that Mandarin is allegedly considered too "RACIST" by Marvel these days.. hopefully im wrong about that.. Lastly the 80th Anniversary Iron Man is also my favorite!👑

The metallic finish is nice, but my mind’s eye is based on the comics, which did use just yellow and red. Modern comics are able to use gold ink and that fits with the more modern armors for me. Yes, I do know the yellow in comics was supposed to represent gold, but I prefer the figures to look like they did in the comics they were in.

The old one looks better. Hasbro’s paint is awful now.
